November 1, 1957

LITTLE ROCK — Fire of undetermined origin destroyed a two-story brick building housing Television Station KATV early today and the loss was estimated at $400,000.

Asst. Mgr. Oscar Algood, who made the estimate, said the station would remain on the air through its Pine Bluff studios and would carry the same programs.

  • Scheduled to return home today from Dallas, Tex., were Mrs. Jean Bell and Mrs. Mae Howell, who attended the fashion market showings.

  • Among the students of the speech department of Ole Miss taking part in a school production of “The Tender Trap,” is Sam Puddephatt of Pine Bluff.

  • Mrs. Bennie Ridgway, secretary of the Jefferson County Home Demonstration Council, recently presented a candy dish and orchid to Mrs. Novelle Clark, county agent, in appreciation of her work.

Mrs. Arthur Royston, retiring president, received a crystal epergne dish.
