WHITE HALL-LITTLE ROCK MILLS NAMED GAME OF THE WEEK

By The Commercial Staff
Tuesday, November 3, 2009 9:13 AM CST

The Little Rock Mills-White Hall game Thursday at Bulldog Stadium, which will be a battle for the No. 2 seed from the 5A-Southeast Conference and a home game in the first round of the playoffs, has been selected as the Southeast Arkansas Game of the Week by the staff of The Pine Bluff Commercial.

White Hall (7-2, 5-1) enters the game fresh off a convincing 41-20 victory at Beebe. The Bulldogs won the game despite Larry Walls, the school’s all-time leading rusher, missing the second half with a hamstring injury.

The Comets (6-3, 4-2) kept hope alive for hosting a first-round game by bouncing back from a 29-28 setback to Crossett on Oct. 16. They knocked off Beebe 38-24 two weeks ago before handling North Pulaski 20-6.

The winner gets to host the No. 3 seed from the 5A-West while the loser travels to that league’s No. 2 seed. All four seeds in the West will be determined this week when Alma hosts Greenwood and Vilonia hosts Greenbrier.

The Bulldogs beat Mills 30-8 last year but lost to Beebe the week before to slip to a No. 3 seed. They have a lot more to play for this year, including being on the opposite side of the bracket from powers Monticello and Greenwood.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
