GEORGETOWN, Guyana — The bodies of between 300 and 400 men, women and children — some shot to death, most reportedly poisoned by their own hand — have been found at the Guyana jungle camp of a California religious sect.
Members of the sect, led by the Reverend Jim Jones, also one of the dead, attacked and killed five Americans on Saturday, including Congressman Leo J. Ryan, Democrat of California.
The Pine Bluff Chamber of Commerce nominating committee has submitted the names of 18 men for election to nine positions on the chamber’s board of directors.
They are: R.T. (Bob) Atkinson III, Ken Baim, Jay Bradford, U.S. Brown, Rodger P. Doyle, Ted Drake, Hubert Eastham, W.H. (Bill) Fox Sr., Jerome Glatstein, Rick Henry, David Jeffries, C.E. Melville, Murray Reichen, Stewart Sanders, Don Smith, Dr. Herman B. Smith Jr., Creed Spann and Albert Zimmerebner.
