The Ivy Center for Education will hold College Readiness and ACT Prep Workshops in the Dollarway High School cafeteria, 2602 Fluker St. Featured speakers will be Carolyn Mills and Chris Robinson from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.


At 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, Mills, director of the Learning Institute and Opportunities for New Students (LIONS) Program, will speak to students about transitioning from high school to college and other opportunities designed for success. She will also have online UAPB admissions information and LIONS applications for high school seniors.


At 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, Robinson, director of the UAPB Office of Recruitment, will share scholarship opportunities that the university offers to incoming freshmen. “I want students to know that UAPB is a place where dreams come true,” he said in a news release.


The ACT Prep Workshops will be held from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 19-20, and Cedric Jackson and Ashia Madison will provide snacks at 4 p.m. Workshop presenters are from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville’s Office of Diversity Affairs Outreach. The ACT will be administered to students nationwide Saturday, Oct. 22.


The Ivy Center for Education holds ACT Prep Workshops on all high school campuses throughout Jefferson County to prepare students for college. Parents are always welcome to attend.


Students may sign up at their schools to attend the workshops. Students in 7-12th grades are encouraged to attend the free workshops. Students should bring pencils and paper to the workshops.
