Anniversaries


Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will celebrate the sixth anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Lloyd A. Holcomb Jr. and Pamela Holcomb, Sunday, Dec. 18. At 11 a.m., the guest preacher will be the Rev. George Scott of First Missionary Baptist Church at Humphrey. At 4 p.m., the guest preacher will be the Rev. Jonathon Carter of Siloam Church International at College Park, Georgia.


Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2121 W. 26th Ave., will celebrate the fourth pastoral anniversary of the Rev. George Waters Jr. and Pamela S. Waters, Sunday, Dec. 18. At 10:45 a.m., the guest preacher will be the Rev. Raeshawn Howard, pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Dermott. At 3 p.m., the guest preacher will be the Rev. Frank Harris Jr., pastor of Second Canaan Baptist Church at Detroit, Michigan.


Christmas services


St. Luke AME Church, 9908 Princeton Pike, will present its Christmas Candlelight Concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. Everyone is invited to attend.


Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., will host its annual Christmas program at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23. A skit entitled, “Meet Me at the Manger,” will be performed.


Timothy Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1304 S. Apple St., will present its Christmas Candlelight service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25. The community is invited to the service which will celebrate the birth of Jesus through scripture readings, songs and a play by the youth department.


House of Bread Deliverance Church, 500 S. Main St., will host its covenant year-end Christmas celebration at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17. The guest speaker will be Arthur Hunt of Hunts Memorial Cathedral of Faith of Dumas. This will be celebrating of the Birth of Christ.


New Salem Baptist Church at Sherrill will present its annual Christmas play, “Resurrecting Christmas,” at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. The play, written by the pastor, the Rev. Clark Thomas, depicts what change can happen when young people reach out to help in their community.


New Fellowship Baptist Church, 17th Avenue and Cypress Street, will host its annual youth Christmas musical entitled, “Follow the Star,” at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will host its annual Christmas program at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, following the 11 a.m. worship service.


Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 W. Martin Place, will host a Christmas musical at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17. A combined choir will sing. Participants include Ezekiel’s choir, Zion Family Church Choir and Eternal Life Choir.


Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2401 Port Road, will host its annual Christmas program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Arthur Blood of Greater Rose of Sharon Church.


Good Faith Carr United Methodist Church, 3703 Ryburn Road, will host a Christmas Concert at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, featuring Dale Kriner, Donna Kriner and Beaver Johnson.


Southside Singing Center, 5420 W. 15th Ave., will host their Christmas Quartet concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. Groups will include the Sensational Soul Revivals, Mighty Gospelettes, Gloriettes, Shining Stars and White Family Christland/Faith of Harmony.


Concerts


New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 Missouri St., will host the Southeast Arkansas Male Chorus in its Hallelujah praise concert and scholarship presentation, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.


New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 500 Bois D’ Arc, will hold a musical fundraiser at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17. Guests will include Shell Marks, Mighty True Lights, Eudora Praise Team, New Beginning, White Family, Redix Family of Star City.


Westside Missionary Baptist Church at Star City will host the 23rd anniversary of the Westside Harmonettes at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. Guests will include the Rev. Terrell Rogers and Men of Destiny of Blytheville.


Special events


Greater First Missionary Baptist Church, 509 W. Laurel St., will hold a church dedication. A musical at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, will include the Nu Mighty Supremes, Spiritual Wings of Joy, Singing Revs, Totally Committed, Spiritualettes and Sensational Soul Revivals. At 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, service will feature guest speaker, the Rev. Amelio Howard, pastor of Grace Temple Baptist Church.


Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3006 Kentucky St., will hold its end-of-the-year program at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. Special guests will be the Rev. Norvell Gooley, pastor of New Light Church at Tillar, and his congregation.


Cherry Street AME Zion Church, 800 S. Cherry St., will host the citywide mission at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19. Participants are asked to bring paper towels.


New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will host the Rev. Samuel Mixon Sr., associate minister at Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.


New Community Baptist Church, 321 N. Birch St., will resume its weekly Bible study at 7 p.m. Wednesdays, starting Dec. 28. The sessions will be in recess until then.


Good Faith Carr United Methodist Church, 3703 Ryburn Road, will host the guest speaker, the Rev. Mark Norman, Superintendent of the Southeast District United Methodist Churches, at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. There will be a potluck dinner afterwards. Everyone is invited to attend bring their favorite dish.


Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Ohio St., will hold its mid-week service from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21. The sermon will be by the Rev. Raeshawn Howard, pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Dermott.


Greater Faith Ministry Church at Althiemer will present the Rev. Benny Johnson of Stop the Violence Inc. of Little Rock as the guest speaker at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.


Youth


New Morning Star Baptist Church at Altheimer will observe its annual youth and young adult day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. The featured speaker will be Kourtney Smith, a minister at Destiny Worship Center and the chorale music director at Dollarway High School. The youth and young adult mass choir and Destiny’s praise team will sing.
