Christmas/holiday services


Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 4807 W. Sixth Ave., invites the community to its Christmas service at 8 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25. Breakfast will be served.


First Baptist Church (Dew Drop), 1701 N. Bryant St., will present a Christmas skit at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25. The community is invited.


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will hold its Christmas service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25.


New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will host its Christmas Day service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25. The church won’t host its 8 a.m. service nor Sunday School.


Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church of Reed will have Christmas worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25. Everyone is invited to attend. The message will be brought by the pastor, the Rev. J.B. Handley.


Old Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 3116 Port Road, will host Christmas Day service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25. Old Morning Star and Oak Groove Missionary Baptist Church will host Watch Meet 2017 at Old Morning Star at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Fred Johnson, pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer, accompanied by his congregation. Guests will also include New Morning Star and Wade Chapel Missionary Baptist churches.


Victory Faith Church, 1517 S. Poplar St., will host worship service at 10 a.m. Christmas Day, Dec. 25. The community is invited to enjoy God’s presence and rejoice in the celebration of the birth of Christ, the ultimate gift, a spokesman said.


Pleasant View Ministries Church, 1117 N. Palm St., will host Christmas worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, featuring a Christmas Play. (There won’t be Christian Enrichment classes this day.) Also, Pleasant View will host Watch Night Service at 9 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Saturday, Dec. 31.


Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will celebrate the birth of Jesus at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day. Watch Night Service will be held at 10:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, with guest speaker, the Rev. John W. Bush, pastor of Macedonia and Richardson Chapel Baptist churches.


Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will host Watch Night Service at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Darren Edgerson, pastor of St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church. Choirs of both churches will sing.


Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 W. Martin Place, will host a Christmas program at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25. Youth will present a play, “Happy Birthday Jesus.” Also, Ezekiel will host Watch Meeting Service at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, featuring guest pastor, the Rev. Clarence Cartwright.


New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church, 3319 S. Ohio St., will host its worship service and a Christmas production from 10-11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day. Also, Watch Night Service will be from 10 p.m. to midnight New Year’s Eve, Saturday, Dec. 31.


New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 3000 S. Orange St., will host its Christmas service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Christmas Day 25, and the pastor, the Rev. Aaron E. Barnes Sr., will be the speaker.


Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will host its annual Christmas service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, and the youth will be in charge. Watch night services will be held at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Traveler’s Rest and the guest speaker will be the Rev. Jimmy Polk of Rankin Chapel Baptist Church.


Hawley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1575 Ridgway Road, will host its Candlelight Christmas Eve Service at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, and its Christmas service at 10:50 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25. “We would love to welcome you to our church during this blessed, holy season when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” a spokeswoman said.


Concerts/Musicals


Summit Baptist Church, 901 Ridgway Road, will present special services at 4:30 p.m. Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and 10 a.m. Christmas Day, Dec. 25. The Summit Sounds Wind Ensemble will perform along with organist, Kathy Smoke and pianist, Annette Rushing. Guests include Al Wimberly on alto saxophone and Garrison Wimberly on trumpet performing their father/son duet: “Joy To The World” and “Mary Did You Know?” Vocalists Trisha Small, Stephanie Rodgers, Aaron Grice, and Jessica Womble will sing solos. The public is invited to attend.


New Beginnings Baptist Church, 8826 Old Warren Road, will host a New Year’s Eve Singing starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. Guests will include Glen and Leann Pool of Cabot and Jamie Coulter, the Skateboard Preacher, of Hamburg. Refreshments will be served.


Special services


Unity Temple Church of God in Christ, 4401 W. Sixth Ave., will host the Rev. Andrew J. Butler, senior pastor of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at Johnston, S.C., as the guest speaker at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25. Butler is a former resident of Pine Bluff. The public is invited to attend.


New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will host the Rev. Warren “Greg” Smith, associate minister of Destiny Worship Center, at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25. Also, the church won’t have watch night services Dec. 31, a spokesman said.


Revival


God’s House of Praise Ministry, 4218 W. 15th Ave., will host revival services with the following speakers at 7 p.m. on these dates: Wednesday, Dec. 28, Verdia Fields; Thursday, Dec. 29, Cynthia Walker; and Friday, Dec. 30, the Rev. Bernard Clark.
