New Year’s events


Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 5807 W. Sixth Ave., will hold an early New Year’s Day service at 8 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1. The guest speaker will be the Rev. R.D. Howard, pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Dermott.


New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 3000 S. Orange St., will host its New Year’s Day service at 10:30 a.m. and the pastor, the Rev. Aaron E. Barnes Sr., will be the speaker.


Victory Faith Church, 1517 S. Poplar St., will have New Year’s Eve service at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. The Rev. R.D. Howard Sr., pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at Dermott, will be the speaker.


First Missionary Baptist Church in the Ladd Community, 4901 McDonley Road, will have watch night service at 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31.


New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church, 3319 S. Ohio St., will host watch night service at 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. Guest pastors will be the Rev. Joshua Pickett of Grace and Mercy Baptist Church, and the Rev. Darren Edgerson of St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church. New Year’s Day services begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1.


Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church at Star City will present its annual watch meeting at 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. Special guests will be the Rev. Charles James, pastor of Havis Chapel Church of Dumas, accompanied by his congregation.


Nu Bread of Life Missionary Baptist Church, 1711 W. 13th Ave., will present its New Year’s Eve program at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, featuring preaching and singing with guests including Nu Begin-N and Nu Image3. At 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, New Year’s Day services will be held.


Main Street Church of God in Christ, 2901 S. Main St., will begin watch meeting service at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31.


Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will begin its watch meeting program at 10:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. The doors open at 10 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. John W. Bush, pastor of Macedonia and Richardson Chapel churches.


Old Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 3116 Port Road, and Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, will host watch meeting service at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Old Morning Star. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Fred Johnson, pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer, accompanied by his congregation. Guests will also include New Morning Star and Wade Chapel Missionary Baptist churches.


Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will sponsor its watch meeting at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, in conjunction with Gospel Temple and Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist churches.


True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. Second Ave., will present its watch meeting at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Alfred Carroll of Alfred Carroll Ministries.


Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas will host its watch night services at 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, in conjunction with Free Gift and St. Harmony churches. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Tyrone Ford, pastor of Free Gift church.


Pleasant View Ministries Church, 1117 N. Palm St., will present its New Year’s Eve program at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. New Year’s Day services begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1.


Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 2507 Hill St., will sponsor its watch meeting at 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, in conjunction with Pine Hill Baptist Church.


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will sponsor its annual watch meeting at 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31.


Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will host watch night services at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, and the guest speaker will be the Rev. Jimmy Polk of Rankin Chapel Baptist Church.


Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will host watch night service at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Darren Edgerson, pastor of St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church. Choirs of both churches will sing.


The AME churches in the Pine Bluff and surrounding areas will have a joint watch night testimonial and worship service at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Mt. Pleasant AME Church, 1201 N. Magnolia St. The Rev. Hazel J. Linton, pastor of St. Luke AME Church, will be the preacher.


Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 W. Martin Place, will host a watch meeting service at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, featuring guest pastor, the Rev. Clarence Cartwright.


New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will hold a New Year’s Eve family fellowship holiday festival from 7-10 p.m. in the church’s fellowship hall. The pastor/apostle, Patrick Lockett, will speak. There will be “food, fun and fellowship,” a spokesman said. After the fellowship, New Community members will join the bishop, Esau Watson, and congregation at Judah Restoration Worship Center, 2401 S. Main St., for their New Year’s Eve celebration.


Concerts


Local singers will appear at the Men in Black Concert 2017 at 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, at Antioch Full Gospel Baptist Church at Little Rock. Guests will include The Racy Brothers, Spiritual Wings of Joy and The Singing Revs.


Family Time Baptist Church and Ministries, 501 Ohio St., will host the Pine Bluff Quartet Local Union at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1. Guests will include the Mighty True Lights, Union Choir, Men In Christ, Spiritualettes and Rice Spirituals.


Special events


Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church on U.S. 425 will hold its installation of officers at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Darrell Martin.


New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will host the Rev. Willie A. Rogers Jr., associate minister of First Missionary Baptist Church, at 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1.

New Life Ministry Church, 3714 W. 34th Ave., will host revival at 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Jan. 6-8.
