BENTONVILLE - O.J. Ramick, Jr,. of Bentonville, Ark., beloved husband, father, grandfather and pastor, passed from this life on January 5, 2017 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born November 21, 1937 in Grapevine, Ark. to Ocie Jacob and Eula Bessie Ramick.

He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan, Ark. He was ordained to preach by Sardis Missionary Baptist Church in Grapevine, Ark. on May 29, 1955. He graduated from the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock, Ark. with a Doctor of Bible Languages degree on May 15, 1959.

He pastored Philadelphia MBC, Sweet Home MBC, District Heights MBC, Fairview MBC, Corinth MBC, Sardis MBC, Ephesus MBC, Orion MBC and Providence MBC in Sulphur Springs. He helped organize and pastored a mission church in West Palm Beach, Fla.

He received his Bachelor of Education degree from UCA, Conway. He received his Masters of Education Administration from ASU, Jonesboro. He taught school at Central High School, Little Rock, Mountain View High School, Grapevine High School, Carthage High School, Black Rock High School, and Prattsville School Systems. He remained a strong advocate for both secular and religious education throughout his life.

He is preceded in death by an infant brother, Sherman Ramick; brother, Nathan Ramick; wife, Madeline; sister, Lorella Morris and husband Wilburt; brothers-in-law, Harry Brown, Rommie Taylor and Hollis McBryde.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Martha Lorene Van Ness Ramick; daughters, Cynthia Ann Tippit and husband Brian, and Rebecca Adele Ramick; grandchildren, Sarah Tippit Taylor and husband Robin, Benjamin Andelman and wife Cristalla, Kathryn Blair Blankenship and Lily Madeline Tippit; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Gus, Shane and Liberty Andelman and Martha Grace Taylor; sisters, Gussie Brown, Bonnie McBryde, Lottie Taylor and Patsy Worthen and husband Jessie, and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

Funeral Services will be Monday, January 9, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2017 also at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence MBC of Sulphur Springs, Calvary MBC of Sheridan, Grant County Museum, Grapevine Cemetery Association or the charity of your choice.
