She was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, until she moved to Jena, La. While in Jena, she married Glen Drewett. The couple moved to Baton Rouge, La., where Glen attended Louisiana State University and Wanda graduated from LSU High School. From this union the couple had one child, Michael Glen Drewett.
Wanda later moved back to Pine Bluff, Ark., where she married Richard B. Vining. They resided in Pine Bluff until Richard’s death when she moved to Sherrill, Ark. to live beside her son and daughter-in-law.
Wanda was a beautician owning and operating her own beauty salon for many years. She lived in the same neighborhood for over 50 years and was loved by all, young and old, being a second mother to many. She was lovingly called Mamaw, Aunt Wanda, and G-Ma by many of her loved ones. As one neighborhood young man affectionately stated, “Ms. Wanda was the driver when all the boys in the neighborhood had to go to the doctor to get stitches.
“She loved sports, especially basketball and baseball having played basketball in high school. Her greatest joy was to attend any sports activity or game that her grandsons, Lee and Derik, were involved in from elementary school through college, trying to never miss a game.
Wanda was a loving, sharing, generous lady who loved her family very much! She supported her family selflessly and always attended any event or function that any family members were involved in. As one family member said, “She was the Matriarch of the family; the glue that held us together.”
