The roads that were repaired by the Jefferson County Road Department were as follows:


Jan. 6


Grader Operator: Graded Summers Road, Princeton Pike Loop and Deer Lane. Graded Crossett Road and spread twenty tons of SB2 on the road.


Jan. 9


Patching Crew: Filled potholes on McKinney Road and Horseshoe Lake Road.Culvert Crew: Installed a 12” X 20’ PVC pipe on Clark Road and covered it with six yards of SB2. Spread eight yards of SB2 on a cross drain pipe on Crooked Creek Road.


Truck Driver: Hauled 191.08 tons of SB2 Class 7 Bass Course from Granite Mountain Quarries to Jefferson County Road Department.


Grader Operator: Graded Gibb Anderson Road, Rado Drive and Wallace Road. Graded G. L. Davis Road and Milner Road and spread thirty tons of C-Ballast on each of the roads.


Ditching Crew: Cleaned out ditches on Webster Road.


Boom Mower Operator: Cut right-of-way on Country Lane, Village Drive and Calloway Hill. Cut grass in ditches on Rob Roy Road, Lincoln County Line Road and McEntire Road.


Environmental Officer: Checked the following county roads for illegal dumping and road condition: Clark Road, Mocking Byrd Road, Tank Road, Hazelwood Road, Richard Allen Road, Evans Road, Bruce Trail, Nichols Road, Wampler Spur Road, Monk Road, Princeton Pike, Stokes Road, Providence Road, Elkins Road, James Road and Summers Road.


Sign Shop Operator: Made a one call on Kingswood Estates Road and put a road sign on Moorehead Road. Worked in sign shop the rest of the day making signs.


Jan. 10


Patching Crew: Filled potholes on Hartley Dump Road. Truck Driver: Hauled 165.35 tons of SB2 Class 7 Base Course from Granite Mountain Quarries to Jefferson County Road Department.


Grader Operator: Graded Wilson Road, Cornerstone Road, Johnson Road and Abernathy Road. Ditching Crew: Cleaned out ditches on Gaddy Koonce Road.


Boom Mower Operator: Mowed Grass on Morgan Road. Cut right-of-way on Wildcat Drive and Boys Training School Road.


Bridge Crew: Cleaned bridges on Pinebergen Road and Wilbur West Road.


Environmental Officer: Checked the following county roads for illegal dumping and road condition: Mallard Drive, Teal Drive, Lyanna Drive, Nolino Drive, Osage Drive, McEntire Road, Alexander Road, Reba Lane, Earl Chadick Road, Trulock Road, McKinney Road, Morris Chapel Road, Mitchell Road, Archer Road, Ray Dean Road, Joe T Henslee Road, Rob Roy Road, Lovelace Road, Ellison Road, Thomas Road and North Pack Road.

Culvert Crew: Cleaned out beaver dams on Petty Road, Horseshoe Lake Road, Winston Road, Rob Roy Road, White Road, Island Harbor Marina Road, Fisher Adams Road, Hooker Road, Belmont Road, Richmond Core Road.


Truck Driver: Hauled 46.36 tons of C-Ballast from Granite Mountain Quarries to Jefferson County Road Department and hauled 114.97 tons of SB2 Class 7 Base Course to Swan Lake Recreation Road.


Grader Operator: Graded Griderfield Road. Graded Swan Lake Recreation Road and spread three loads of SB2 on the road.


Ditching Crew: Cleaned out culverts and ditches on Hardin Reed Road. Boom Mower Operator: Cut trees and bushes around bridges on Ashley Road, Elkins Road and Hardin Road North.


Sign Shop Operator: Put a stop sign on Pipkin-Glover Road. Put road signs on Jim Ford Road, Wood Road, Horseshoe Lake Road and worked in sign shop the rest of the day making signs.


Environmental Officer: Checked the following county roads for illegal dumping and road condition: West Bitely Road, Moscow Store Road, Rolfe Road, Tamo River Road, Mabry Road, Shannon Road, Hartsfield Road, Mary Drive, Hixon Road, Margie Road, Donnie Road, Lazy Hill Road, Target Valley Road, Lee Springs Road, Jimbert Road, Camden Cutoff Road and Rogers Road.


Jan. 12


Truck Driver: Hauled 154.59 tons of SB2 Class 7 Base Course from Granite Mountain Quarries to Jefferson County Road Department.


Grader Operator: Graded Big Moe Levee, Jed Road, Olloway Road and Atkins Lake Road. Boom Mower Operator: Cut right-of-way on Pinebergen at the bridges. Mowed grass in ditches on Abernathy Road.


Sign Shop Operator: Put a stop sign and road sign on Jericho Road. Put a road sign & reflectors on Quattlebaum Drive and worked in the sign shop rest of the day making signs.


Environmental Officer: Checked the following county roads for illegal dumping and road condition: McKevin Road, Pine Meadow Drive, Spring Lake Road, Dyson Road, Osborn Road, Paper Mill Road, Harvey Road, Collier Lee Road, Reed Lake Road, Morgan Road, Kings Bayou Road, Swan Lake Road, Matt Miller Road, Kotchel Road and Nolan Road.


Cardboard is a big source of revenue for the recycling center. Businesses call to set up a pickup for cardboard at their location and it is picked up and taken to the recycling center on Gravel Pit Road where it is bailed for the source that has been contracted to recycle the cardboard.


The Jefferson County Road Department has a mechanic shop that does various mechanic jobs on the county’s heavy equipment. At times equipment breaks down on the job and a crew is dispatched to repair the equipment on site. Also cars and trucks that belong to Jefferson County are serviced and repairs are made in the mechanic shop at Jefferson County Road Department.


All logging companies and construction companies that haul heavy loads over the Jefferson County roads are required to be bonded in order to use the county roads in Jefferson County.
