Bauer Duke, Extension aquaculture specialist at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, will present Backyard Aquaponics Options at the Jefferson County Home & Garden Show.

The show will be held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3-4, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. Duke’s presentation, scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, is geared toward those who want to engage aquaponics in their backyards or classrooms.

Aquaponics uses fish waste to grow plants in a soilless environment, Duke said in a news release. His presentation features a live demonstration on how to construct raft, ebb and flow, and nutrient film technique aquaponics systems.

A working model of each system will be on display both days. Aquaponics introductory information handouts will also be available.

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff offers all of its Extension and Research programs and services without discrimination.
