Jefferson Regional Medical Center will begin instituting a more complex password requirement for JRMC Jchart users March 20.

The process is an effort to continue protecting the privacy of JRMC patients, a spokesman said in a news release. JRMC’s Jchart allows registered patients to access some of their medical information, such as test results, from any computer or smartphone.

“JRMC constantly assesses and updates security policies in accordance with national best practices, as the security of private patient health information is a top priority,” the spokesman said.

The next time Jchart users are asked to create a new password they must follow these guidelines:

• Passwords must be a minimum of 8 characters;

• Passwords must contain at least three of the following — one special character, one number, one uppercase letter or one lowercase letter;

• Password changes will be required once a year.

To access the Jchart, users must go to www.jrmc.org, scroll down and click on “MY JCHART.” Once on the page, first-time users can simply press “Register Now,” fill in their information and their JRMC files will be available in their personal Jchart.
