After drawing a bye in the first round of the Arkansas Association of Christian Schools Junior High State Basketball Tournament, the Ridgway Junior Eagles earned a spot in the state championship by downing two opponents, one Friday, the other Saturday.
Joshua Ventress, a ninth grader, scored nine points, and Gabe George, who is in the eighth grade, added eight as Ridgway slipped by Southwest Christian 25-24 Friday night to make it to the semi-finals Saturday.
Matched up against Community Christian, the Junior Eagles had no trouble, winning 45 to 29.
George led the team in scoring, collecting 18 points, while Thurman Shaw, also an eighth grader, added 15.
Ridgway is now 13-3 for the year and will take on the winner of the Garrett Memorial — Life Way game on Feb. 18 at Community Christian at Russellville.
