James Michael Stanfield, 62, of Pine Bluff, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, February 3, 2017. Mr. Stanfield was born February 11, 1954, in Pine Bluff, to Sidney Stanfield and the late Hazel Bell Ollar.
He was reared and received his education in Rison, where he graduated from Rison High School in 1972. Mr. Stanfield was a Pine Bluff Police Officer for 28 years and retired as Deputy Chief in 2005. He had also worked for Cotton Belt Railroad (currently Union Pacific) for 18 years and was as an auctioneer for Robinson Auction Company.
He was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, the Arkansas Municipal Police Association, Fraternal Order of Police, and a past member of the Port City Bass Club.
He is survived by his wife, whom he married December 10, 1991 in Pine Bluff, Sherry Lynn Stanfield of Pine Bluff; four daughters, Kari (Nick) Clark and Melissa (Russell) Edwards, both of Pine Bluff, Staci (Bart) Robinson of McKinney, Texas, and Tiffany Stanfield of Frisco, Texas; father and step-mother, Sidney and Mildred Stanfield of Pine Bluff; four grandchildren, Madison (Critter), Brooklyn (Possum), Josey Beth (Jose’y), and Raylee (Gussie); three sisters, Dianne (Scott) McCollough of Montezuma, Iowa, Barbara (Richard) Deveny of Dallas, Texas, Jeanenne (John) Tinsley of Geraldine, Alabama; and his caregiver, Sherrie Phillips of Pine Bluff.
Mr. Stanfield was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Bell Ollar, his step-father, Cliff Ollar, and his grandparents, Otis and Mae Bell.
The family will receive friends Monday, February 6, 2017, 5-7 p.m., at Robinson’s.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 7, 2017, 10 a.m., in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Mack Milner officiating. Burial will follow at Fitzhugh Cemetery.
The family would like to give a very special thanks to Hospice Angels for all of their care, kindness, and support during their time of need. The family will be at the home of Larry and Carrie Gailey.
