WHITE HALL - Walter S. “Ham” Waddle, 74, of White Hall, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, February 3, 2017, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

He was born December 29, 1942, in Pine Bluff, son of the late William S. and Annie Louise Walter Waddle. He was a lifetime resident of Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1960.

Ham spent his entire adult life serving the residents of Jefferson County. His career included a Surveyor for AP&L (Entergy), serving as a firefighter for the Pine Bluff Fire Department, Pine Bluff Arsenal, and Deputy Sheriff for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. After retirement, Ham worked as a delivery driver for Small’s Florist before becoming a member of the Ralph Robinson & Son family on September 1, 2001. At Robinson’s, Ham became a vital part-time associate who served families for over 15 years until his death.

He also served on the Watson Chapel School Board for eight years and was the current Chairman of the Board of the Pine Bluff Arsenal Federal Credit Union. He was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. Ham was a member of the Pine Bluff Masonic Lodge No. 69, and he was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Survivors include his loving wife, Johnita Roberts Waddle, whom he married December 21, 1962, in Pine Bluff; son, Keith Waddle and his wife, Lori, of White Hall; brother, Donald Gail Waddle of Dodson, La.; grandchildren, Jordan Sorey and her husband, Blake, and Logan and Kacee Chapmon and great-grandchild, Broox Allen Sorey.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, February 6, 2017 at Salem Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Howard Loetscher and Reverend Todd Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Grapevine by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Visitation will be Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Salem Missionary Baptist Church Ham will lie in state on Sundayafternoon from 2-4 p.m. at Robinson’s.
