The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments which include restaurants, bars, daycares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.


The following are the results of food safety inspections conducted by the Jefferson County Health Unit:


• SOS Express #2, 3402 Old Warren Rd. Date of inspection March 3. Observation: Need to clean non-food contact surface — counter-top (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Observation: All trash cans need lids; only need lids if they food residue and are not in continuous use (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Observation: Vent hood lights need to be replaced (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)


• Dollar General Store, 2110 Ridgway Road (100 Mission Ridge.) Date of inspection March 6. No violations observed during time of inspection.


• Divine Kitchen, 2122 S. Blake St. Date of opening inspection March 7. Okay to operate.


• Chapel Food Mart, 5901 Sulphur Springs Road. Date of inspection March 6. Observation: Establishment needs testing strips to measure the concentration of the sanitizing solution (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Observation: Observed area in backroom needing to be cleaned and organize (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) There are some missing floor tiles that need to be repaired/replaced (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)


• Watson Chapel High School, 4000 Camden Road. Date of inspection March 6. Observation: Fan in kitchen area needs to be cleaned (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)


• Happy’s Kid Learning Center, 614 S. Cherry St. Date of inspection March 7. Sugar should not be stored in a single use pickle jar (Not in compliance; repeat violation; corrected on site during inspection.)


• Chick’ Fil A, 1301 L.A. “Prexy” Davis Drive. Date of inspection March 7. Provide a supply of individual disposable towels or a continuous towel system that supplies the user with a clean towel or a heated-air drying device at each hand-washing sink in food preparation, toilet and ware washing areas (Not in compliance; corrected on site during inspection.) Wiping cloths shall be used as intended and in compliance with regulations pertaining to Retail food establishment (Not in compliance; repeat violation; corrected on site during inspection.) • White Hall Community Center, 9801 Dollarway Road, White Hall. Date of inspection March 9. No violations reported.


• White Hall Yogurt Co., 7179 Sheridan Road, Suite 111, White Hall. Date of inspection March 7. Bottom of refrigerator where berries leaked needs to be cleaned (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)
