KKTV Channel 11, a CBS affiliate, recently featured Karlveon Ford, a junior at East High School at Pueblo, Colorado, as a “Classroom Champion.”


Formerly of Pine Bluff, Ford was honored for his success on and off the field, according to a press release.


Ford is a member of the three time state championship Eastside Pueblo Eagles football and basketball teams. He is also a member of the National Honor Society.


According to the release, Ford said the discipline he learned as an athlete also helped him succeed in the classroom. He credits his mother for stressing the importance of education. After high school, he plans to attend Duke University.


He is the son of Onika London-Ford and the late Carl Ford. He is the grandson of the late Earnest Ford and Mable Jimmerson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter London Jr.
