The Pine Bluff Community Band will present a spring concert at 7 p.m. Friday, April 21, at Summit Baptist Church, 901 Ridgway Road. The event is open to the public.

This concert will be presented in conjunction with the Arkansas State Music Club Convention, also hosted by Summit church and the Pine Bluff Musical Coterie, a spokesman said.

“The music selected for this concert will be pleasing to the ear,” said Lewis Hinkle, Summit’s music minister and band member. “We’ll begin the program with a familiar Sousa march and continue playing other tunes such as ‘Rock Around The Clock’ and ‘Tuxedo Junction’.”

The program will honor the memory of the late Arkansas composer W. Frances McBeth in playing his composition, “Masque,” the spokesman said.

Other features will include Tiv Cumberbatch playing the French horn concerto, “Morceau de Concert,” by Saint Saens; and the dueling solos played by Al Wimberly on alto sax and Garry Henson on trumpet in Henson’s arrangement of “Somewhere, My Love.”
