Anniversaries


Greater First Baptist Church, 509 Laurel St., will celebrate the 10th pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Daryl and Yvette Graydon at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Amelio P. Howard, pastor of Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church.


New Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 3800 Fir St., will sponsor its 10th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23. Special guests will be the Rev. Cedric Hawkins, pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church of Stuttgart, and his congregation.


St. Andrew Missionary Baptist Church, 5810 W. Malcomb St., will present the 12th pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Richard and Dorothy Hart at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The guest preacher will be the Rev. George Waters Jr. of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church.


Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1104 W. 26th Ave., will commemorate the 19th pastoral anniversary of the Rev. LeArthur and Tammy Shelton at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Clinton McFarland, pastor of Grace Baptist Church at Atlanta, Georgia.


Love Fellowship and Deliverance Church of God in Christ, 411 S. Oleander St., will host the sixth anniversary of the pastor and wife, Theopherlus and Brenda McIntyre, starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 22, with guest speaker, the Rev. Accie Reynolds, pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church at Ladd. At 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23, the guest speaker will be Superintendent Joe Stocker, pastor of Main Street Church of God in Christ.


There Is Hope Church of God in Christ, 1003 E. Second Ave., will observe the 20th pastoral anniversary of Superintendent Earl Glass and Amanda Glass, district missionary, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The guest speaker will be Superintendent Charles Taylor, pastor of Zion Temple Church of God in Christ.


Mt. Olive AME Church at Tarry will celebrate its 155th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The speaker will be their bishop, Michael Mitchell.


Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will observe its anniversary at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 23. The speaker will be the Rev. Tremel Prudhomme, pastor of Northside Antioch Baptist Church of Houston, Texas.


International House of Praise Ministry, 1002 E. Eighth Ave., will begin the anniversary of the pastor and co-pastor, Willie Edwards Jr. and Carla Edwards, at 7 p.m. Friday, April 28. The guest speaker will the pastor of Canaan Christian Center, Sheryl Banks.


Concerts


Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in the Pastoria community of Sherrill will host the Pastoria Singing Union’s worship service at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23.


The seventh anniversary of the Rev. Sammie Smith Jr. and Nu Begin N will start at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at Nu Bread of Life Missionary Baptist Church, 1711 W. 13th Ave., and guests will include Humble Hearts, Heavenly Hearts and Angels of God. At 6 p.m. Sunday, April 23, the celebration will continue at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St., and guests will include the Nu Image 3, Men in Christ, Sensational Soul Revivers, all of Pine Bluff, and Celestial Wonders of Little Rock.


Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Altheimer will host an appreciation program for the musicians, Leemae Culclager and Ray Shavers, at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Alvin C. Lowe, pastor of Prairie Lake Missionary Baptist Church, and his congregation.


Men’s/women’s events


Kings Highway Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., will celebrate its annual men’s day Sunday, April 23. At 10:45 a.m., the speaker will be Nicholas Woodfork, a member of the church. The guest speaker at 3 p.m. will be Interim Pine Bluff Police Chief Ivan Whitfield, who is also a deacon at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.


Barraque Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 Pullen St., will sponsor its annual men’s day at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 23. The speaker will be Rev. Samuel Mixon of Barraque Street church.


Mt. Bayou Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will observe its annual women’s day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The guest speaker will be Betty Craig, evangelist from Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


The Women’s Auxiliary of the Consolidated St. Marion Baptist District Association will host its annual spring banquet at 6 p.m. Friday, April 28, at the Robert L. Handley Life Center, 812 E. Harding Ave. The event has been named in honor of the late Eva M. Dickerson, who served in the association several years, including as president of the local auxiliary and as the state auxiliary president. The speaker will be Robert Dickerson Jr., son of the late Robert Dickerson Sr. and Eva Dickerson. Revival


New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1317 Texas St., will hold Spring Revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, April 24-26. The guest evangelist will be the Rev. Melvin Harrison, pastor of St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church of Star City.


Special events


Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1923 S. Olive St., will host a city-wide silver saints celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The 30 confirmed honorees include retired educators, civic leaders and youth organizers. Jefferson County Judge Henry “Hank” Wilkins IV will be the guest speaker and Mayor Shirley Washington will present an acknowledgement from the city. The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper Choir will sing.


Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church at Jefferson will observe its annual usher day at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Larry Battles, pastor of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.


Greater Deliverance Global Ministry, 12215 E. Harding Ave., will host the Rev. John Eaves, associate pastor at United Faith Christian Ministry at Stafford, Virginia, and son of Shirley Sanders, Greater Deliverance bishop. He will speak at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 23. A resident of the Washington, D.C., area, Eaves is a consultant for the federal government and a retired Naval officer. He and his wife, Jacqueline, co-authored the book, “Do Not Settle for Less; Turning Mess into Success.”


New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will host the Rev. Laydell Jordan, an associate minister of First Missionary Baptist Church, at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 23.


New Hope CME Church, 901 E. 21st Ave., will present its family and friends day at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Kevin Crumpton Sr., pastor of Pilgrim Baptist Church, accompanied by his congregation.


Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church near Tarry will hold a building fund program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The guest speaker will be the Rev. W. Neal.


Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1903 S. Olive St., will host the meeting of the Regular St. Marion District Women’s Department at noon Saturday, April 29, instead of April 22. The president is asking all the women and officers to attend.


Motley Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 794 St. Raphael Road, will sponsor its annual mission program at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The guest speaker will be Mattie Daniels, first lady of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Dumas.


Indiana Street Baptist Church, 1114 Indiana St., will observe its ushers’ annual at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Stanley Blair, pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow, along with his congregation.


Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3006 Kentucky St., will host its family and friends day at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dwight Townsend, pastor of Longley Baptist Church of Little Rock.


Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas will hold its mission and laymen worship service at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Jimmy Polk, pastor of Rankin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, along with his congregation.


St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1404 S. Georgia St., will offer a free Christian education class starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 29.
