The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments which include restaurants, bars, daycares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.


The following are the results of food safety inspections conducted by the Jefferson County Health Unit:


• United Filing Station, 5320 Dollarway Road. Date of inspection April 17. Paper towels needed at hand-washing sink in restroom (Not in compliance.) Observed a chemical bottle being stored next to opened single service cups. Chemical bottles should be stored separate from single service items. Chemical bottle was moved during inspection (Not in compliance; repeat violation; corrected on site during inspection.) Observed ice scoop being stored uncovered on top of ice machine and tongs being stored uncovered on top of pickle jar. In use utensils should be stored in a manner to protect them from contamination (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Single service cups and lids observed stored out of original package at self service drink station. Single service items should be stored in their original, protective packaging or by other means that protects them from contamination until used (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Three compartment sink not noted in establishment. Three compartment sink needed to manually wash dishes (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Restroom door should be self-closing (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Observed restroom door open during inspection. Restroom door should be kept closed except during cleaning and maintenance operations (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Current health permit should be posted (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)


• New Generation Daycare, 232 Frankie Lane, White Hall. Date of inspection April 20. No violations observed in establishment during time of inspection.


• Kreations by Kim, 4210 W. 28th Ave. Date of inspection April 20. No violations observed during time of inspection.


• Wood Shed mobile, 9621 U.S. 270, White Hall. Date of inspection April 21. No violations observed during time of inspection.


• Super 8 Motel, 1 Hospitality Lane, White Hall. Date of inspection April 19. Observed dishes in hand-washing sink. Hand-washing sink should not be used for any other purpose than washing hands. Dishes were moved during inspection (Not in compliance; corrected on site during inspection.) Some cold holding temperatures in refrigerator in breakfast area are out of safe temperature range (must be 41 degrees F or below). Yogurt in refrigerator was moved during inspection (Not in compliance; corrected on site during inspection.)


• Kinder Prep Christian Academy, 908 S. Cherry St. Date of inspection April 21. Items must be stored/ displayed to prevent contamination. All bowls and plates should be stored inverted (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)


• Wynne’s BBQ Fish mobile, 421 Sandy Bayou Lane. Date of inspection April 21. Observed employee touching ready to eat food with bare hands. Gloves should be used to touch ready-to-eat foods (Not in compliance; corrected on site during inspection.) Need test strips to test strength of sanitizer solution (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)


• The Family Diner, 116 S. Arkansas 365, Redfield. Date of inspection April 21. Discontinue consuming food, use of unapproved beverage containers, or use of tobacco in food preparation or ware-washing area. All drinking must have a lid and straw (Not in compliance; corrected on site during inspection.) Items must be stored/displayed in a way that prevents contamination. The utensils should be stored inverted (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Observation: All trash cans need lids. Only need lids if they contain food residue and are not in continuous use (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)


• Jenkins Memorial School, 2410 Rike St. Date of follow-up inspection April 21. Wall behind oven is unclean and needs to be cleaned (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)


• Country Kitchen, 4322 Dollarway Road. Date of inspection April 25. Observed some food in kitchen refrigerator being stored uncovered. Food being stored in refrigerator should be covered to prevent contamination. Food was covered during inspection (Not in compliance; repeat violation; corrected on site during inspection.) Refrigerator in front serving area has some items that are out of safe temperature range (food in cooler should be kept at 41 degrees F or below). Food was brought to safe temperature range during inspection (Not in compliance; corrected on site during inspection.) Did not observe thermometer in front kitchen refrigerator. Thermometer needed in all coolers holding food that must stay cold (Not in compliance; repeat violation; corrected on site during inspection.) Observed some wiping cloths in kitchen sitting out on counter tops. Wiping cloths should be kept in a sanitizer solution between use (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Single service containers observed being reused throughout establishment. Single service containers should not be reused (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Seal on walk in freezer door is broken and needs to be repaired (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Shelves throughout kitchen need to be cleaned (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Trash cans containing food residue should have a lid when not in continuous use (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Some flooring needs to be repaired (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Floors and walls throughout kitchen need to be cleaned (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)
