Southeast Arkansas College held its last Lunch & Learn for the 2016-2017 school year.

In observance of April being National Domestic Violence Awareness month, Kelley Bohlmann, an Administrative specialist for SEARK College’s Office of Student Affairs, spoke on domestic violence.

Bohlmann addressed the different types of domestic violence and talked about the effects of abuse. She also talked on her own story as a survivor of long term domestic violence in a past relationship.

“Domestic Violence Awareness Month is very necessary because statistics show that abuse of Americans is on a large scale. Information empowers people to take that first step to get out of an abusive relationship, get help, and get relocated,” Bohlmann said. “ Abuse, unknown to most citizens, is also on several levels and can include women, men, children, and the elderly.”

The Lunch & Learn events, which are organized by SEARK College’s Office of Advising & Retention, occur once a month during the fall and spring semesters.
