The Pine Bluff City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. Agenda items include looking at old fire and police department pension funds that are threatening to hurt the city financially.
Tuesday, May 16
The Faith Community Coalition of Pine Bluff will present its fourth annual Pastors and Community Prayer Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.
The Rotary Club of Pine Bluff will hold its Small Business Appreciation event at noon Tuesday, May 16, at Pine Bluff Country Club. The 2017 winner of the George A. Makris Sr. Small Business Award will be announced.
Wednesday, May 17
Interviewing those against the Go Forward PB initiative.
Friday, May 19
The Arkansas Delta/Why It Still Matters, sponsored by Political Animals Club and Simmons Bank, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. Arkansas Gov Asa Hutchinson will be the guest speaker.
According to an event news release, the conference "is designed to help Delta leaders network with each other and discuss how to deal with a declining population base. A catfish lunch will be served prior to the governor’s address. All 135 state legislators, city officials and county officials have been invited to attend."
There’s no registration fee, but those planning to attend are asked to register in advance at www.simmonsbank.com/delta. The registration desk on the day of the event will open at 8:30 a.m. at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.
