Anniversaries


Family Time Baptist Church & Ministries, 501 Ohio St., will celebrate the 20th pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Micheal and Pamela Williams and family Sunday, May 21. At 9 a.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Robert Key of Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Walter Witherspoon Jr., pastor of True Harvest Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas.


Mount Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, 812 E. Harding Ave., will celebrate the 40th appreciation of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Robert L. and Carrie L. Handley. A roundup will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 20, for members, family and friends. At 10 a.m. Sunday, May 21, the guest speaker will be the Rev. Lorenzo Jones. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Clark Thomas.


Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6300 U.S. 79 South, will celebrate its 113th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21. The guest speaker will be the Rev. James Murry, pastor of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church.


New Beginnings Baptist Church, 8826 Old Warren Road, will celebrate its 18th anniversary and homecoming service starting at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 21. Special singing will be held in the afternoon and guests will include Glen and Leann Pool of Cabot. All former members and visitors are invited. There won’t be a night service, a spokesman said.


Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will begin the pastoral appreciation service for the Rev. Climon James Lee and Melba Lee with a pre-anniversary musical at 7 p.m. Friday, May 26.


Concerts


Summit Baptist Church, 901 Ridgway Road, will present the Kinsmen Quartet in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 21. The Kinsmen include lead singer, Mark Little; baritone singer, Gary Newton; tenor singer, Bill Hankins;and bass singer, Gerald Williams. The concert is free and open to the public.


Kingdom Builders Outreach Church of God In Christ, 3105 S. Apple St., will host the annual appreciation musical honoring Michelle Johnson, a psalmist, at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21. Guests will include Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Choir directed by Cassandra Smith.


Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 2915 S. Main St., will host the annual appreciation musical for Marcus Luster at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 21. Guests include Nu Emag3, Little Vessels, True Vessels, God’s Way Fellowship and Mighty Gospeletts.


Wheeler Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3519 Wheeler Chapel Road, will host the memorial musical workshop of the Wheeler Chapel Voices of Praise at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, May 23-25. All choirs, musicians and psalmists are invited. The workshop concert will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 27.


Meadowview Baptist Church near Sheridan will present David Patillo in a free concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 20. He has written more than 450 songs, including The Middle Man & Ten Thousand Angels Cried, and has received numerous awards.


Men’s/Women’s events


Mt. Pleasant AME Church, 1201 N. Magnolia St., will present its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday May 21. The guest speaker will be Sheila Washington, first lady of the Little Rock District of the Arkansas AME Conference. Music will be provided by a special Women’s Day Choir directed by Stephanie Collins and Janet Johnson.


St. Luke AME Church, 9908 Princeton Pike, will celebrate its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21. The speaker will be Presiding Bishop Michael Leon Mitchell of the 12th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.


SONLite Ministries, 5103 W. Malcomb St., will present the “You Are SOUL Beautiful” Women’s Conference starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 20, with free registration, brunch and a “Pretty Feet Contest.” The winner will receive a $100 cash prize or gift card. Services continue at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21. Featured speakers will be Lawander Williams of Breath of Life Church at Bryant, and Brenda Jefferson, pastor of Covenant Faith at Sherwood.


Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1801 Indiana St., will host the annual women’s day of the Greater St. Marion District Association at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21. The guest speaker will be Nina Glover, president of the Regular Arkansas Baptist Convention Woman’s Auxiliary. Also, 103-year-old Emma Pickens will be honored. She’s a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and the first president of the Greater St. Marion District Woman’s Auxiliary.


Greater Ward Chapel AME Church, 3700 W. Sixth Ave., will observe its annual women’s day at Sunday, May 21. At 11 a.m., the speaker will be Shawn Mitchell. At the 4 p.m. service, women are asked to wear their favorite hats and the guest speaker will be Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington.


St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will sponsor men’s day at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 21. The pastor, the Rev. Omar Davis, will be the speaker.


New Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 3800 Fir St., will hold its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21. Jackie Breamsey, the first lady of First Baptist Church (Dew Drop), will be the guest speaker. The Women’s Day Mass choir will be directed by Annetta Jackson of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church.


Union Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 1121 Persimmon St., will hold its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21. The guest speaker will be Isabella Hawkins of Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.


Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church near Tarry will observe its men’s day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 21. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Robert Scott, pastor of Damascus Church at Grady.


A Place of Hope Christian Center, 917 Scull St., will celebrate men’s day at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 21. The speaker will be the Rev. Kenneth L. Gray Sr., the center’s pastor.


Calvary Missionary Baptist Church at Ivan will celebrate its men’s and women’s day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 21. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Sammie Smith Jr., pastor of Nu Bread of Life Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff, accompanied by his congregation.

Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave.,will hold its annual spring revival at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, May 23-25, with guest evangelist, the Rev. Kirby Gulley, pastor of Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.


Living Word Baptist Church, 5617 Sulphur Springs Road, will hold revival at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, May 25, 26. The guest speaker will be Bernard Mitchell of Mendenhall, Mississippi.


New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will host spring revival starting at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 21, with guest speaker, Victor Johnson, apostle of Victors’ Empowerment Center at Stuttgart. At 7 p.m. Monday, May 22, the guest speaker will be Esau Watson Jr., bishop of Judah Restoration Ministries at Pine Bluff. At 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, the guest speaker will be James Gray, apostle at Greater Miracle Temple Worship Center at North Little Rock and Greater Miracle Temple, south campus, at Pine Bluff.


Special events


New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas will present the pastoral installation service of the Rev. Royce Jackson Jr. Sunday, May 21. At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. L. James Tate of Olivet Missionary Baptist Church at Florrisant, Missouri. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Royce Jackson Sr., pastor of Wade Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Star City.


New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will host the Rev. Phillip Puckett, associate minister of Thomas Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Gould, at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 21.


Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will hold its annual mission program at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 21. The guest minister will be the Rev. Jeffery Ellington of Agape Church at Little Rock.

Jerusalem No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will hold its annual calendar drive program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 21. The guest speaker will be the Rev. James Rice Jr., pastor of Greater Battle Chapel Church at Altheimer.


New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will host its annual mission program presenting “This Book vs. The Book (Bible)” at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, May 21.
