Ally Puckett, a student from Poyen High School in Grant County, was one of two finalists in a local science fair selected to receive an all-expense-paid trip to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. The fair was scheduled at Los Angeles May 14-19.

More than 30 high school students participated in the second Ouachita Mountain Regional Science and Engineering Fair sponsored by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock College of Engineering and Information Technology and other organizations.

Puckett’s research qualified her for the international competition. The UA Little Rock College of Engineering and Information Technology covered expenses for both finalists and their sponsoring teachers.

As an Intel ISEF finalist, Puckett was to compete with more than 1,700 students worldwide for a chance to win awards and prizes totaling about $4 million.
