The Pine Bluff Housing Authority will host a Job Resource Fair at the Pine Bluff Convention Center from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, June 15. Participating companies include Tyson, Arkansas Department of Correction, International Paper, The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, SEARK, Lenoxx, SuperOne Grocery, JCCSI, to name a few.

The job fair is the kickoff to the authority’s Seventh Annual Father’s Day Initiative themed: “Building Healthy Families.”

Though there are men around, Housing and Urban Development programs are mostly perceived to cater to women only. The Father’s Day Initiative is held yearly, near Father’s Day, in efforts to allow fathers the opportunity to get involved with their children; to show fathers that they are not going unnoticed.

The initiative also includes “Fun Day” for the children from 1-5 p.m. Friday, June 16. There will be activities and guest speakers from UAPB, Stamp Out Smoking and law enforcement. The Job Resource Fair is a free public event. Everyone is invited. Anyone in need of employment should “dress to impress, bring your resume, and be prepared to let companies know why you are the best applicant,” says public housing Family Self-sufficiency Coordinator Albert King Jr.
