Father’s Day


Timothy Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1304 S. Apple St., will present its Father’s Day candlelight service at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 18, which will also include a memorial. The presentation will feature a Father’s Day prayer, a tribute to the Christian Father, the Home of a Blessed Man, the 10 Most Wanted Men and a Christian Father’s 10 Commandments. The sermon will be by the pastor, the Rev. Woodrow Jackson Jr.


Almeta Missionary Baptist Church at Reedville will hold a Father’s Day service at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 18. The sermon will be by the pastor, the Rev. Edward Demery. All fathers and their families are invited to attend. Father’s Day dinner will follow at 12:30 p.m.


Nu Bread of Life Missionary Baptist Church, 1711 W. 13th Ave., will celebrate Father’s Day during the 11 a.m. service Sunday, June 18. The sermon will by Nu Bread’s pastor, the Rev. Sammie Smith Jr.


Concerts


New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 3000 S. Orange St., will sponsor a musical praise service at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 17. Guests will include the Salem Gospel Singers of Denton, Texas, Men in Christ, Soul Revivals and Spiritualettes.


Women’s events


A Place of Hope Christian Center, 917 Scull St., will host its annual 2017 women’s conference from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24. Guest speakers will be Veronica Ware, an evangelist with Shekinah Glory Global Ministries of Pine Bluff, and LaVera Gray of Rising Star Church at Sherwood. Brenda Gray, a minister at A Place of Hope, will be the speaker at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 25.


Revivals


Almeta Missionary Baptist Church at Reedville will sponsor revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, June 19-21. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of the Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


Special events


New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will host the Rev. Xavier Diamond, associate minister of St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas, at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 18.


Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 Pullen St., will host the City Wide Mission meeting at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 19.


Kings Highway Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., will host the meeting of the men of the Consolidated St. Marion Baptist District Association at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 20. Details: 619-436-9011.


New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will hold a benefit program for a deacon, Tony Ray Lewis, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 18. Featured guests will include choirs from the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church of Noble Lake and Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Meroney.


New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., invites the community to participate in a family day portrait fund-raising event. Pictures will be taken Friday and Saturday, June 23-24. Vacation Bible School
