The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments which include restaurants, bars, daycares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.


The following are the results of food safety inspections conducted by the Jefferson County Health Unit:


• White Hall Food Express, 8003 Sheridan Road, White Hall. Date of inspection May 25. Hand washing sinks should not be used to store dishes and should only be used to wash hands. Lid was removed during inspection (Not in compliance; repeat violation; corrected on site during inspection.) Some hot holding temperatures in hot hold unit were out of safe temperature range (should be 135 degrees F or above). All food was discarded that was in the hot hold unit during inspection (Not in compliance; corrected on site during inspection.) Observed unidentified substance in bulk bin. Seasoning in bulk bins out of their original package should be labeled with common name of food it contains (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Observed packaged food and bag of onions being stored in walk in cooler and freezer directly on the ground. Food should be stored at least 6 inches above the ground (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Some single service cups observed being stored where lip contact surface is being exposed to contamination. Single service items should be stored in their original packaging or by other means that protects them from contamination until used (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Front hand washing sink is leaking and needs to be repaired (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Shelves throughout kitchen are unclean and need to be cleaned (Not in compliance; repeat violation.) Floors under equipment are unclean and need to be cleaned (Not in compliance; repeat violation.)


• Morgan Farms, 8309 Old Warren Road. Date of inspection June 2. No violations observed during time of inspection.


• Dave’s Hawaiian Ice, 1518 E. Harding Ave. Date of inspection June 8. No violations observed during time of inspection.


• Ms. B’s School Days, 202 Michelle Ave., White Hall. Date of inspection June 12. No violations observed during time of inspection.


• Blue Pig BBQ LLC mobile, 1659 Grant 18, Grapevine. Date of inspection June 14. No violations reported.


• Transformation Project, 1400 Centennial Lane, Centennial Fellowship Church, White Hall. Date of inspection June 14. No violations observed during time of inspection.
