Sheila Williams recently earned the Correctional Behavioral Health Certification — Behavioral Specialty designation from the American Correctional Association.

Williams is currently a mental health advisor with the Arkansas Department of Correction at the Ouachita River Correctional Unit at Malvern.

“The American Correctional Associations congratulates Sheila Williams, CBHC-BS, on this achievement,” a spokesman said in a news release.

Before the certification, applicants qualify based on their experience and accomplishments in corrections. They must also successfully complete a comprehensive examination that tests their knowledge as a correctional professional.

“The CBHC designation is an indication of demonstrated professionalism involving such activities as governance and administration; personnel and management; inmate care and treatment; addressing the special needs and services of offenders and the medical and legal issues,” the spokesman said.
