The Pine Bluff-Jefferson County Economic Opportunities Commission will begin taking applications for the summer regular and crisis portions of LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.)
Starting Monday, July 10, EOC will open the program in Jefferson, Grant, Cleveland, Arkansas and Lincoln counties. Applications will be taken from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Wednesday. Summer LIHEAP is for electric bills only, according to a news release.
Applicants for LIHEAP must meet income guidelines. For a household of one person, the monthly countable income is $1,533. For each additional person in the household, add $471.
To apply for assistance, a member of the household should bring a copy of their gas and electric bills, Social Security numbers, proof of monthly income and birth dates for all household members. Additional information may be required during the interview process. Failure to provide the requested verification may result in delay or denial of assistance. A checklist and no-income verification forms are available now at the local EOC office.
