University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff students Whitney Harris and Brielle Taylor are interns with the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis for the summer.

Federal Reserve Bank has been working with the UAPB Office of Career Services to seek candidates for internships and permanent positions. Both students are May 2017 graduates and would like to continue their careers with the agency, according to a news release.

Harris, a business marketing major, is from Granite City, Illinois. She participated in several cooperative education and summer internship opportunities prior to graduating. Her first experience through the Office of Career Services was during her junior year at The Strong Company in Pine Bluff where she was a marketing assistant.

Harris was a student-athlete and very involved on campus. She maintained a grade point average of 3.5. During the summer of 2016, she was offered an internship with Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis where she received an overall outstanding rating for her work ethic. At the conclusion of the internship, she was extended an offer to return as an intern during the summer of 2017, according to the release.

Taylor, a business finance major from Detroit, Michigan, gained experience through the Office of Career Services since her sophomore year. Her grade point average increased to a 3.2 and she became the president of the accounting and investment clubs. During that time, Taylor was able to visit the Federal Reserve Banks of St. Louis and New York. This sparked an interest in her and she expressed her desire to gain experience in the banking field to her career coach in the Office of Career Services. Soon after, Taylor obtained cooperative education experience at Relyance Bank in Pine Bluff where she too received an overall outstanding rating for her work ethic. Prior to graduation, Taylor interviewed and received an offer from Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis for an internship during the summer of 2017.

The internship salary ranges from $13-$18 per hour and could ultimately lead to a permanent position based on their individual performance. The starting salary range for graduates with experience is $50,000-$55,000 per year.

The Office of Career Services is located in Caldwell Hall, Suite 202.
