Some of the country’s top jazz artists will perform as part of the All-Star Jazz Camp at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.


The All-Star Jazz Camp Big Band will take the stage of the UAM Fine Arts Center at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, for a free concert.


The 18-member band will include Paul Henry of the Airmen of Note, the internationally-acclaimed jazz band of the U.S. Air Force, as well as Mike Williams, trumpeter for the Count Basie Orchestra and Scott Whitfield, trombonist for Johnny Griffin’s Big Soul Band and the Nat Adderly Sextet, a spokesman said.


The performance will also include UAM jazz faculty members, including drummer C.E. Askew, former conductor of the Airmen of Note, saxophonist Gary Meggs, founder of the UAM jazz program who toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, guitarist Les Pack and trombonist Don Marchand.


Other members of the band are Alex Norris, Brice Evans, Caleb Hudspeth, David Kane, Dennis Wolfe, Jason Smith, Kaleb Knight, Matt Sawyer, Michael Williams, Nathan Bell, Allen Won and Dick Eckstine.
