God in his infinite wisdom called his soldier Pastor John Spicer, 51, of Pine Bluff from his labor on Earth’s battlefield to reward in His heavenly home on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.
He the first born of, Clifton and Minnie Spicer on October 2, 1965, whom preceded him in death.
He leaves to live his legacy; his wife - Janette Spicer; two sons - Johnathan Spicer and Jordan Spicer; seven brothers - Clifton Spicer Jr. (Kathy), Daniel Spicer, Joseph Spicer, David Spicer, Mark Spicer, Adam Spicer (Charmelia), Timothy Spicer and Paul Spicer (deceased); Three sisters – Martha Spicer-Moore (Michael), Mary Spicer-Robinson (Tecorye), Elizabeth SpicerJohnson (Hendrick), Parents In Love Mr. and Mrs. Odell Terry; Two Brothers In Love - Stephen Terry (ViLisa), Christopher Terry (Tracy).
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday July 11, 2017, at New St. Hurricane Baptist Church by Dr. Robert Handley. Interment will be in Cypress Memorial Garden by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
Visitation/Family Hour will be Monday, 5:30-7 pm at Brown Funeral Home in Pine Bluff.
His body will lie in-state, Tuesday, 10:15 a.m., until service.
Martha Jane Holsted Veazey 63, of Pine Bluff, Ark., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 2, 2017.
Mrs. Veazey was born in Paris, Ark., on November 13, 1953, to John Ervin “Hammer” and Hazel Helton Holsted.
She was reared and educated in Paris, Ark., where she graduated from Paris High School. Mrs. Veazey attended Pines Vocational School, where she received her Dietician’s License. She had worked for Walmart as an overnight cashier for 12 years before retiring.
She was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Veazey was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas Veazey, whom she married on April 20, 1973, in Paris; her parents; sister, Phyllis Ann Chambers and a brother, Vernon Holsted.
Survivors include her daughter, Sabrina Veazey-Hays (Mark) of Pine Bluff; grandchildren, George Nicholas Veazey, Anna Marie Veazey; Dixie Hays, Stella Hays; siblings, Aggie Finny (Jimmy), Willie Mae Hogan (R. L), Bonnie Havens, William “Butch” Holsted, Emma Gibson (Thomas), Linda Maddan, Glenda Hobbs (Thomas), Gladys Brockett (Weldon) and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 PM, Sunday at Robinson’s.
Funeral service will be 10 AM, Monday, July 10, 2017, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Brother Lewis Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow in Branch Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of Sally and Lewis Watson.

MONTICELLO - Curtis Henry White, age 76 of Monticello, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born June 8, 1941 in Monticello, Ark. to the late Grady E White and Maudella Wright White.
He was self-employed and was a Christian.
Survivors include two sons, Henry Lee White of White Hall and Jimmy Dale White of Genoa; one grandson, Derek White and wife Tiffany of White Hall; two great-grandchildren, Preslee White and Deacon White both of White Hall; one brother, James White and wife Karen of El Dorado; one sister, Ann Durham of Little Rock; and many family members and friends.

RISON - Annie Laurie Broach Doss Granderson, 85, of Rison, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 in her home.
She was born January 11, 1932 in Harold, Ark., to Buford Broach and Gladys Wooten Broach.
Mrs. Granderson spent her early life in Rison were she attend Rison High School. She married S.P. Doss in November of 1946 and they moved to Pine Bluff in 1954. Mr. Doss passed away in 1963.
She married Roy Granderson August 13, 1971 in Rison and moved back to Rison in 1982.
Mrs. Granderson was a Type Setter for the Pine Bluff News for 18 years, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, where she sent cards to the sick and enjoyed cooking for her church.
Along with her two loving husbands, Mrs. Granderson was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, James Ray Doss and Larry Wayne Doss; daughter, Gladys Jo March; son-in-law, Rick Werner; four sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Murray of Pine Bluff, Barbara Ann Werner of Redfield and Melissa Marie Robbins (Scott) of Pine Bluff; three sons Jimmy Richard Doss (Dell) of Pine Bluff, Jonathan Lynn Doss (Lori) of Pine Bluff and Clark Granderson (Karin) of Morriston, Fla; two sisters, Vera Ratliff of Bella Vista and Eudene Doss of Rison; 25 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Rison with Reverend Don Breshears officiating. Visitation will be Monday, July 10, 2017 from 6-8 p.m at Ralph Robinson and Son in Pine Bluff.
