J.B.” Bucky” Maynard, author of “My Life and thoughts,” will review his book at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22, in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church, 6501 Hazel St. After the review, door prizes and refreshments will be furnished.

A local businessman, Maynard is the son of Ann Brown Taylor Maynard, who is 101 and a half years old, and the late Joe Maynard.

“They have been a family of life-long Pine Bluff, Arkansas, residents where Bucky has been recognized as a successful businessman, teacher, water safety instructor, Eagle Scout, National Guardsman, father, husband, and an ‘airchair-rider,’” according to a news release release.

In addition to facts and figures, the book includes Maynard’s experiences of growing up at Pine Bluff, attending college, medical training, a short military career and working in the family businesses.

“He describes his success as a salesman and manager, a close call with a Russian gold-digger, a near fatal car crash, adventures on the river, and his marriage to a Fillipino lady,” according to the release.

Maynard also mentions the “airchair,” a water ski with a hydrofoil mounted underneath, which is pictured on the book, as well as other photos, news clippings and memorabilia.

The book will be available at the review or from Amazon.com
