An armed man attempted to rob two women at different retail locations Tuesday morning in Pine Bluff. According to a news release from the Pine Bluff Police Department, the man, brandishing a gun, first tried to rob a woman of her purse at around 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Walmart Supercenter on Olive Street. In the process, he “possibly tried to shoot the female,” a police report said.

A short time later, police said the same man attempted to rob another woman at the Super One Foods store on East Harding.

According to a police report, the victim at Walmart had just exited her vehicle when she was approached by a black male with a slim build who stood about 5-feet, 9-inches tall and wore gray or blue gym shoes. The report said the man grabbed the woman's arm and pointed a small, silver handgun at her and demanded that she give him her purse. The victim told the man she did not have any money, “but he still was trying to take her purse,” the report said.

The victim then told police that the man told her she “had five seconds to give him the purse, and he started clicking something on the gun. [The victim] said she had her hand on the weapon, pushing it away from her, and informed the black male that she was going to scream. [The woman] started screaming for help, and the man ran off and jumped into what appeared to be a dark gray Honda Accord with multi-colored bumpers front and back,” the police report said.

The suspect's vehicle then left the parking lot heading north on Olive Street, according to the report. In the Super One Foods incident, a police report said that the victim told police that as she exited her vehicle two black males approached her, with one of them saying that he had a gun. He then demanded her purse and car keys, the police report said. The woman also said that one of the men had on a blue shirt with white on the front, while the other man had on a multi-colored shirt with brown, black and blue in it, along with blue shorts.

The woman also said that one of the males had a large handgun of unknown caliber, and that the two drove off in a multi-colored Honda Accord heading east on Harding Avenue. The car was later found abandoned, police said. Anyone with information regarding the identity of this person is asked to call the Pine Bluff Police Detective Division at (870)730-2090 or the Dispatch Center at (870)541-5300.
