Andrew Estess, a Pine Bluff artist and new League member, will demonstrate an oil technique for graphics on canvas at Sunday’s meeting of the Pine Bluff Art League. The meeting, in the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center at 211 West Third, will be from 2-4 p.m.
Estess, a designer for tee shirts and other printed apparel and goods, is a self-taught artist whose designs are full of color and light, according to a league spokesman. “With light behind them, his canvases literally glow,” she said. “The art has texture and intricate geometric designs to rival stained glass work.”
Estess says he promotes his work through his business of selling tees, but “after hours, I spend time exploring art.”
Vickie Coleman, league president, will also discuss the upcoming art exhibit to be shown at the SE Arkansas Arts and Science gallery beginning August 21. A reception and awards ceremony is planned for September 7, according to exhibit chair Gerry Delongchamp.
Coleman said that a spokesman for the Go Forward Pine Bluff movement will speak to the artists about displaying their art in some of the downtown buildings which will be open to the public.
The group encourages all people who have an interest in art to attend the monthly meetings as guests to get to know the local artists. New members are welcomed always, according to a spokesman. Visitors are reminded to park on the south side of the building for easy access to the meeting room.
Light refreshments will be served, according to Carol Hastings, refreshments chair.
