A 73-year-old Pine Bluff man who confessed to killing his wife and then shooting himself died late Tuesday of his wounds, Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley said.
According to Pine Bluff Police Lt. David DeFoor, George Kelsey called 911 and told dispatchers early Tuesday morning that he had shot his wife, Mickie Kelsey, 74, then turned the gun on himself.
At about 1:24 a.m.Tuesday, Pine Bluff police responded to the Kelsey's home at 210 Sidney and had to force entry, De Foor said in a press release.
Inside, they found George Kelsey on the couch with a single gunshot wound to the chest. Police said he was still alive and talking.
Mickie Kelsey was also in the living room and had been shot. She was later pronounced dead at the scene by Kelly at 2:50 a.m. Kelley listed the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the upper body, which was sent to the State Crime Lab at Little Rock for an autopsy.
The motive for the shooting is unclear at this time, De Foor said.
