The Pine Bluff Chapter 287 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, in the classroom of the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave.

The speaker will be a representative of Highland Pellets, a new facility in the Jefferson Industrial Park which began production in April.

The representative will bring product samples and explain how wood pellets are a sustainable power source for a growing market in Europe, according to a news release.

“Arkansas has the raw material to be processed to produce tiny wood pellets to be used as a power source for power plants,” according to the release.
