RISON - Emily Geraldine McKinney, age 95, of Rison, passed away in Springdale, Ark. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Mrs. McKinney was born April 15, 1922 in Pansy, Ark., to the late David Horace and Lela McCullough Thomasson. She graduated from Rison High School. Mrs. McKinney served as the City Treasurer in Rison for thirty years. Mrs. McKinney was a long-time member of Rison Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Lawrence "Teddy" McKinney, whom she married on March 1, 1941 in Monticello.

Mrs. McKinney was also preceded in death by her son, David McKinney; two brothers, Lynn and Mack Thomasson; two sisters, Ruth Roberts and Mary Lee Lyon.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Larry and Patsy McKinney of Springdale; three grandchildren, Charlotte (Donnie) King, Jeff (Lynn) McKinney, Kristie (John) Moss; six great grandchildren; Kristen King, Mark King, Annabell Grace McKinney, Emily Kate McKinney, Jackson Moss, Benton Moss.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at Greenwood Cemetery with Mark Henry officiating. Pallbearers are Jeff McKinney, Grant Davidson, Mark King, Donnie King, John Moss, Skyler McLean, Benton Moss, Jackson Moss. Faye Clemmons

Faye Clemmons, 88, born January 22, 1929, transitioned from this life on August 25, 2017 surrounded by her loving family by her her bedside in Merrillville, Ind.

She was born to the late Jacob and Johnnie Q. Gilmore (Dale). She was a graduate of Arkansas AM&N (UAPB) and taught in the Pine Bluff Schools for 36 years, until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Hubert O. Clemmons, Sr.; and son Hubert O. Clemmons, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Kenneth (Wanda) Clemmons; Pamela (Edward) Rowan, Roderick Clemmons, and sister, Verle Jean Gilmon. Five grandchildren; one daughter- in- law; four sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation on September 7, 2017 at PK Miller Mortuary 5 - 8 pm.

Funeral services will be at 12 Noon, Friday at the P.K. Miller Mortuary with the Reverend Harlis Wright, officiating. Entombment will be at the Cypress Memorial Garden with services entrusted to the P.K. Miller Mortuary.

WOODLAWN - Giles Edward Kitchens, 74, of the Woodlawn died September 5, 2017.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Woodlawn with Brother Jackie Richardson officiating.

Interment will follow at Cypress Memorial Gardens in Pine Bluff.

Bill McCarty

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Billy Earl McCarty, 87, of Colorado Springs, Colo. (formerly of Pine Bluff, Ark.) passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, due to complications from pulmonary fibrosis. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Greenlee McCarty, his daughter Glenda McCarty Owsley and son-in-law Steve Owsley, all of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by sisters Helen Gibbs of Chesterfield, Mo., and Dorothy Markini of Grand Rapids, Mich.

He was born on December 15, 1929, near Itta Bena, Miss, to John Hugh McCarty and Mary Eva (Miller) McCarty, both deceased. He was the eldest of six children. He was preceded in passing by his brothers Paul, James, and Donald McCarty.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in December of 1946, where he served as an aircraft mechanic in Guam. After three years of service, he attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Following college, he was employed in 1951 by Arkansas Power & Light until his retirement in March of 1993.

He was an avid tennis player and longtime member of Eden Park Country Club. He also enjoyed airplanes and earned his private pilot’s license after his retirement. He was an ordained deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff and also served in that capacity at Southside Baptist Church, also in Pine Bluff.

In 2013, he moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., to be near his daughter and was a member of Vista Grande Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a great man of faith who loved God and spending time with his family. In his later years, he enjoyed watching baseball, tennis and Friday Night Fights. He also enjoyed eating out with his family.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 10 a.m. with funeral service following at 10:30 a.m. at Advantage Chapel of Memories, 829 S. Hancock, Colorado Springs, CO. A private burial will take place afterward at Evergreen Cemetery.
