Susan Johnson Burns, age 65, of Pine Bluff passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at her home. She was born in Drew County on April 22, 1952 to the late Troy Thomas Johnson and Margaret Graves Johnson. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a brother, James Troy Johnson and a sister-in-law, Iris Johnson.
She retired from the Pine Bluff Commercial after 33 years’ service in sales and advertising. Susan was a Christian and member of Summit Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Ronald Burns of Pinebergen; two daughters, Jami Grove and husband Philip of Cherokee Village, Shannon Burns of Dumas; two grandsons, Peyton Grove and Drew Grove of Cherokee Village; one brother, Billy Wayne Johnson and wife Diann of Monticello; two nephews, Jason Johnson and wife Rose of San Marcos, Texas, J.T. Johnson of Shreveport, La.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roy Burns and wife Aleta of Bastrop and Jimmy Burns and wife Beverly of Hector, Ark.; her mother-in-law Edna Burns; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel. Burial will be in Rash Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 - 3 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to Susan G. Opal Aline Baughman Holt, age 83, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017.
Born March 16, 1934 at Corning, Ark.,, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Evaline Rogers Baughman. She moved to Pine Bluff as an infant and attended Pine Bluff Schools.
For several years, Mrs. Holt worked as head cashier at Baim’s Department Store. For over 20 years, she was a quality control inspector for the Coca-Cola bottling plant in Pine Bluff.
She was member of Shannon Road Baptist Church.
Her husband of 47 years, Charles Robert Holt, predeceased her on January 18, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Henry Joe Baughman.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Ashcraft (George) and Peggy Dodd (John); a sister, Wanda Rice; three grandsons, Steve Ashcraft (Kim), Randall Dodd (Sarah), and Colby Dodd (Sonja); one great-grandchild; and two great-great- grandchildren.
Graveside services were held on Friday, September 15, 2017 in White Hall Methodist Cemetery by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.

Milwaukee, Wisc. - Firdie Woodworth Hyman, Age 85, born in Pine Bluff, Ark. October 3, 1931, departed this life on September 12, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved father of Gregory (Nancy) Hyman of Milwaukee, Wisc. and Dr. Firdina Hyman of New Orleans, La.; proud grandfather of Joseph (Kelli) Wray of Milwaukee, Wisc.; dear brother of Sterling (Bennie) Hyman, III of Mequon, Wisc. and Dr. Ladelle Hyman of Houston, Texas, and brother of the late Dr. Carl E. Hyman. Firdie will be missed by several nieces, nephews extended family, and many dear friends.
Firdie was a decorated Korean War veteran. He served in combat in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. He was also a POW. After his honorable discharge from military service, Firdie worked in the automotive industry first as a welder and eventually retired as supervisor at the A.O. Smith Corporation in 1986.
Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 5 - 8 pm. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 9 am followed by funeral services at 10 am at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2207 North 2nd Street, Milwaukee, Wisc. Interment will be held following the funeral service at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, Wisconsin at 2 pm.
Clinton Ferguson, 80 of Pine Bluff, passed away, Thursday, September 14, 2017.
Born July 7, 1937 at Tomato, Ark., he was a son of the late Bruce Ferguson and Mary Studdard Ferguson.
Mr. Ferguson was a minister in the Church of the Nazarene, having pastored at churches in Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas, Mississippi and Arkansas.
Before receiving his calling to the ministry, Mr. Ferguson was a police officer with the Blytheville Police Department after retiring from the United States Navy.
In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Jean Rigsby Ferguson; daughter, Michelle Ferguson McDonald; and a brother, Bruce, Jr..
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Brooks Wilson Ferguson; children, Clint Ferguson (Beverly), and Sandra Parsons (Curtis); step daughters, Kim Davis (Lloyd), April Byers (David); siblings, Jack, Betty and J.B. grandchildren, Amber, Lillie, Chloe, Jason, April, Taylor, Bryce “A.J.”, Brewster, Wil, Darcie, Victoria, Brooks, Chad and Kara Lynn; great-grandchildren, Trey, Sean and Chloe, and many other loving family and friends.
The family will host a memorial service, Sunday, September 17th, 3 p.m. at Spring Lake Nazarene Church 21607 N. Spring Lake Rd. Hensley, AR 72065, with Reverend Phil Stein, Dr. Russell Bransetter and Reverend Hugh Del Camp officiating.
Mr. Ferguson will be interred at sea.

Charles Starke, Jr.
Charles Norman Starke, Jr., 78, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at home.
He was born August 5, 1939 in Pine Bluff, son of Charles Norman Starke, Sr. and Irene Segars Watson.
Mr. Starke was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff.
He lived in Monroe, N.C. for many years, where he served as a deputy sheriff. Mr. Starke had a passion for cooking and feeding others, which he used to own and operate his own restaurant in Monroe, Charlie’s Place. Mr. Starke served as a 32nd Degree Mason in Lodge #244 in Monroe.
Mr. Starke was preceded in death by his wife, Gatha Ruth Starke; his parents; two sons, Robert Starke and Michael Starke; and brother, James Watson.
Survivors include his daughter, Michelle “Mickie” Starke of Little Rock; grandchild, Ian Starke; cousin, Butch Segars; and sister-in-law, Diane Watson.
