Former Pine Bluff resident, Theodus Luckett III, Ed.D, has been named the director of fine arts for Mt. Pleasant Independent School District at Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
Luckett joined the district in 2014. He previously served as assistant and director of bands at Daingerfield ISD, Longview ISD and Paul Pewit CISD.
“Under his direction, his bands have received numerous UIL Sweepstakes Awards and superior ratings at UIL Marching, Concert, and festivals,” according to a news release.
Luckett is a graduate of Dollarway High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in music from the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Master of Music degree in music education from Stephen F. Austin State University, and Doctor of Education in leadership from Grand Canyon University.
Luckett is currently conducting research on the “Relationship between Fine Arts Participation and Academic Achievement,” according to the release.
He, his wife Karen, and son Drew are members of the Moses Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal church.
