The Ivy Center for Education will present ACT Prep and College Readiness Workshops Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 24-25, in the cafeteria of White Hall High School, 700 Bull Dog Drive. Snacks will be served from 4-4:50 p.m. each day.


Students throughout Jefferson County in 7–12th grades are encouraged to attend. Parents are always welcome.


Tuesday, from 4:30-5 p.m., representatives from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s Learning Institute and Opportunities for New Students (LIONS) Program will discuss how graduating seniors may participate in their summer enrichment program.


Wednesday, from 4:30-5 p.m. the UAPB Office of Recruitment representatives will talk to students about scholarships and how they may apply for them.


The ACT workshop facilitators are from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville Office of Diversity Affairs Outreach.


ACT Prep Workshops will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. both days. Tuesday, students will practice math and English. Wednesday, students will practice reading and science. The next ACT Test will be administered nationwide Saturday, Oct. 28.


“As the signature program of the Ivy Center for Education, we thank White Hall High School for opening up their doors for us to host these very important ACT Prep and College Readiness Workshops,” Mattie Collins, Ivy Center president, said in a news release.


Patricia Berry is the Ivy Center executive director.


“Students are reminded to bring paper and pencil, listen attentively and to always display good character,” Berry said.
