MONTICELLO — The Concerned Citizens of Monticello Area will host the “Love Not Hate – We Are Family” Rally from 1–3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the McCloy City Park at Monticello. The public is invited to attend.
If it’s bad weather, the event will be at Holmes Chapel Ethel Hawkins Family Life Center at Monticello.
The planning team will provide free food and drinks. Attendees can bring their own refreshments to this picnic style event, however alcohol beverages won’t be allowed.
The agenda will include faith, youth, and community speakers and entertainment with a message of love, peace, and justice for all. The theme will be “We Are Family,”according to a news release.
“The rally will be a peaceful expression of unity and celebration of love for one another,” a spokesman said. “We believe we should celebrate the wonderful diversity in Monticello and surrounding areas that makes our communities so strong.”
CCMA is a community-based group working towards uniting and organizing citizens around social justice issues affecting the community.
Any business, organization, church, or individual can be a sponsor of the rally. The only requirement to be a sponsor is to agree with the purpose and to encourage people to attend the event.
