Little Rock- Mr. Columbus Lincoln Abrams, Jr., 73, of Little Rock, was born to Columbus Lincoln Abrams, Sr. and Lucy Stewart Abrams on June 17, 1944. Now his journey has ended. Columbus made his entrance through death into eternal life on Monday, October 23, 2017.
Columbus had 38 years of sobriety and supported thousands with words of encouragement and celebration through his “birthday ministry.” For the last 26 years, Columbus called well over 5,000 people each year to celebrate their birthday, sobriety milestones, and anniversaries. Columbus was extremely thoughtful and always found opportunities to help others and spread joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Earl Abrams. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Morris Abrams; sister, Jacqueline (Carl) Hampton of Morrilton; son, Columbus Lincoln Abrams, III of New Plymouth, New Zealand; daughters, Angela Abrams Hazzard of Little Rock and Amanda Abrams (Sanford) Johnson of Clarksdale, Miss.; and grandchildren, Baylee, Lauren, Morris, Madison, Lorelei, Michael, and Ava.
A family visitation will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 at 6 – 7:30 p.m. and homegoing service will be Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with additional visitation starting at 9:45 a.m. Both services will be at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock (1400 S. Ringo). Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home in Pine Bluff (2407 Commerce Circle).
WOODLAWN - Leslie Ray Barnes, 75 of Woodlawn, passed away, Sunday, October 22, 2017.
Born December 19, 1941, in the Randall community, he was the son of the late Fred Jonas Barnes and Ola Mae Ratliff Barnes.
A graduate of Woodlawn High School, Mr. Barnes was a member of Summit Baptist Church and a Mason.
He retired in 2010 from Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel after 32 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Ingram Barnes; children, Tonya Hall (Jimmy), Kevin Barnes, Bobby Vanlandingham (Susan), Cindy Koonce (Marc); grandchildren, Ashley, Dustin, Trae, Katy, Kolten, McCallie, and Geni; four great-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 28th, 10 a.m. at Fuller Hale South Funeral Chapel with Brother Tom Hart and Brother Todd Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

ROSENBERG, TEXAS - Beth La’Nae Lovorn of Rosenberg, Texas, passed away October 22, 2017 at the age of sixty. She was born in Munich, Germany, on May 15, 1957.
Beth is preceded in death by her father, Calvin Lovorn, and her sister, Robin Hull. She is survived by her life partner Martin Torres, mother, Della Lovorn of White Hall, Ark., brother, Marty Lovorn and brother-in-law, Frank Foster, of Highland Village, Texas, and niece “light of her life” Morgan Hull of Ann Arbor, Mich.
Beth was a Baptist and a devoted educator. She moved to Rosenberg in 1986 and began teaching biology at Needville High School. Beth was dedicated to her students, teaching them science and serving as sponsor of the yearbook for many years as well as their UIL coach for science and spelling contests. She was very proud of her students’ successes. After 30 years at NHS, she retired in 2017 and began substituting there. She called her colleagues “family” and loved to visit with her “lunch bunch.”
Visitation will be held 4 - 6 pm Thursday, October 26th at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel at 3900 BF Terry Blvd, Rosenberg, TX. Funeral arrangements in White Hall, Ark. are under the direction of Cranford’s Funeral Home and a graveside service will be held 11 am, Saturday, October 28th at Memorial Park Cemetery in White Hall.

WHITE HALL - Ellis Myrl Panell, age 87 of White Hall, passed away on October 24, 2017 at his home.
He was born October 11, 1930 in Little Rock, to the late William Mark Panell and Annie Bell Savage Panell.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers Gene Panell, Johnie Panell, Jim Panell; and three sisters Myrtle Tyler, Eula Wise and Bula Panell.
Mr. Panell was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God, Sheridan, Ark. and a former long time member of the First Pentecostal Church of God in Pine Bluff, Ark.
Ellis was retired from Central Maloney, where he worked on the assembly line building transformers. He also held past jobs working in maintenance and as a welder. The things enjoyed most in life was rabbit hunting, working in the garden with his wife and traveling with his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dorthy Genell Young Panell of White Hall, one son, Harold Wayne Panell and wife Denitia Panell of Jefferson; one granddaughter Lea Michelle Brewer and husband David of White Hall; one grandson John Amos Panell of North Little Rock, Ark.; one very special niece Mary Tyler of Fresno, Calif.; along with other nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 24th at Cranford’s Funeral Home with burial to follow at Flat Bayou Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, 6 – 8 p.m. at Cranford’s Funeral Home.
