Anniversaries


Daniel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will celebrate the fourth anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Robert and Carolyn Iverson, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Robert Scott Sr., pastor of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church at Grady.


Greater Battle Chapel Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate its 107th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Jerry Tolbert of House of Prayer Baptist Church of Pine Bluff.


Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1104 W. 26th Ave., will celebrate its 115th anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Clarence Lee, pastor of Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church at Flint, Michigan.


Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will observe its 117th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The guest minister will be the Rev. Alvin Dunlap, pastor of Grace Evangelical Baptist Church.


New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 Missouri St., will celebrate its 98th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Lee Whitiker, pastor of Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church.


Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will commemorate its 148th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The featured speaker will be the Rev. S.E. Shaw, pastor of New Faith Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church, 3319 Ohio St., will celebrate its 161st anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. Special guests will be the Rev. Eric Alexander and the St. Luke Baptist Church.


Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will observe the fifth anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Kirby L. Gulley and Neshia Gulley, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Glenn Barnes Sr., pastor of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church.


Sneed Missionary Baptist Church at Yorktown will observe its 133rd anniversary at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Fred Wisemon of Richardson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.


Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate its 101st anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The guest minister will be the Rev. Aaron E. Barnes Sr., pastor of New Home Baptist Church at Pine Bluff and vice moderator at large of the Consolidated St. Marion Baptist District Association. Choirs from New Home and New Hope Baptist Church of Altheimer will sing.


Allen Temple AME Church, 1123 Virginia St., will observe its 130th anniversary Sunday, Nov. 12. At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Belinda Slater, pastor of St. Paul AME Church in the Bookman community. At 3 p.m., Presiding Bishop Michael Leon Mitchell of the 12th Episcopal District will be the featured speaker.


Concerts/Musicals


New Community Baptist Church, 321 N. Birch St., will host the 61st anniversary of the KCAT Gospel Caravan at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The caravan’s president is the Rev. Samual Criss and the secretary is Ruby Criss. The Rev. Antonio Gayden, pastor of Union Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, will give words of encouragement. Singers will include the White Family, Happy Home Choir, New Sensational Soul Revivals and Mighty Truelights Gospel Singers.


Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1801 Indiana St., will host a concert by the internationally recognized Vesper Choir of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. The event will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12.


Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St., will host the fifth anniversary of the Southern Gentleman of Gospel beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. Guests will include the Heavenly Hearts, Johnson Family, Pure Purpose and Singing Revs. At 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, guests will include Soldiers 4 Christ, Faith of Harmony, Spiritualettes, Mighty Gospelettes, Soul Revivals and Nu Image.


Men’s/women’s events


Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6300 U.S. 79 South, will present its women’s conference from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. The guest speakers will be Beverly Jones of St. James United Methodist Church, Susan McPeake of Grace Pointe Ministries at Conway, and Yolanda Bush of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Registration is $10 and a continental breakfast will be served. Liberty Hill will also host its women’s mission program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The guest speaker will be Sandriel Johnson of Canaan Christian Center.


Family Time Baptist Church & Ministries, 501 Ohio St., will present a women’s conference. At 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, presenters will include Janelta Pickett of Gracy & Mercy Baptist Church, Cynthia Roberson-Stephens of McGehee and Elsie Watson of Highland Missionary Baptist Church. Sunday, Nov. 12, at 9 a.m., the speaker will be Letrece Harris of New Fellowship Baptist Church. At 3 p.m., the speaker will be Tracy Onassis-Hayes of Gloryland Family Fellowship Church and the conference choir will be under the direction of Brittney Enright of Highland church.


Mount Pleasant AME Church, 1201 N. Magnolia St., will host its annual men’s day celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Daryl Howell, pastor of Moody Chapel AME Church at Little Rock.


Almeta Missionary Baptist Church at Reedville will host its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The guest speaker will be Shannon Nash, formerly of Dumas and pastor of Living Word Church at Arkadelphia.


Old Morning Star Baptist Church, 3116 Port Road, will host its women’s day celebration. A brunch at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, will include speakers Terri Howard of Stuttgart, Gracie Jackson of Old Morning Star, Akissi Hill of North Little Rock and Vivian Scott of Little Rock. At 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, the guest speaker will be Wanda Parker of Pilgrim Progress Missionary Baptist Church at North Little Rock and the guest choir director will be Bessie Lancelin.


Gospel Temple Baptist Church, 1100 Oakwood Road, will observe its annual men day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The guest speaker will be Lester James Matthews, a minister from Copperas Cove, Texas.


Revivals


Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 12th Avenue and Poplar Street, will host its fall revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, Nov. 13-15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Stanley Blair Sr., pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow.


Special events


First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at Stuttgart will host an installation service for the new pastor, the Rev. Donald Warren, at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The Rev. Nadine Burton, regional minister of the Great River Region of the Christian Church, will give the installation prayer. The Rev. David Smith, pastor of Old St. James Baptist Church of Pine Bluff, will give the sermon. A reception will be held after the service to welcome the pastor and his family.


Eudora Missionary Baptist Church, 9405 Middle Warren Road, will host guest speaker, A.J. Thomas, a minister of New Hope Baptist Church at Little Rock, at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 12.


New Direction Baptist Church, 3000 S. Louisiana St., will host its ushers’ annual at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The featured speaker will be the Rev. G..L. Sanders, pastor of McGehee Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at McGehee.


True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. Second Ave., will host its annual ushers’ program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Joshua Pickett, pastor of Grace and Mercy Missionary Baptist Church.


New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 500 Bois D’Arc, will host an Old Ship of Zion building fund program at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. The featured speaker will be the Rev. Sylvester Kearney, pastor of Greater Paradise Baptist Church at Grady.
