Dianne Mooney

SHERIDAN - Dianne Hardin Mooney of Sheridan, Ark. was born May 26, 1949 in Sheridan, Ark., the daughter of John Wesley Hardin and the late Josie Mae Flory Hardin. She was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan.

Dianne died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 68.

Dianne had a zeal for life. She loved traveling, cooking, shopping, and going to the theatre. She had an abundance of “best friends” that she loved to spend time with. She was the life of the party, especially at Christmas. She loved to be at her lake house and go on boat rides. Her greatest passion in her life was her family, especially her son and his family.

She owned her own advertising agency and production studio until her retirement.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Mooney, brother and sister-in-law, John Driskell and Brenda Hardin and a sister, LaVonda Marshall.

She is survived by her only child, a son, David Mooney and wife Jill; father, John Wesley Hardin; sisters, Kiska Atchley and husband Albert, and Twyla Treadway all of Sheridan; 3 grandchildren, Makara Mooney, Preslee Mooney, Gage Mooney; step-grandchildren, Madison Lunsford and Karli Lunsford and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Bro. Calvin Holmes and Bro. Michael Walton officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 6 - 8 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are David Mooney, John David Treadway, Billy Treadway, Nathan Atchley, David Crosswhite, Randy Mooney and Donnie Crosswhite. Honorary pallbearers are Bennie Jackson and John “Skeeter” Flory.

Henry Coleman, Jr.

Mr. Henry Coleman, Jr., 85, of Pine Bluff, Ark. was born on June 30, 1932 to the late Henry Coleman, Sr. and Mamie Greer Coleman in Altheimer, Ark.

On March 22, 1952, he married Icreane Thornton. They were married for more than 58 years at the time of her death.

Henry went on to eternal life on November 7, 2017 in Pine Bluff, Ark.

He leaves a legacy of love, faith, courage and commitment to his seven sons – Jimmy Coleman of Oklahoma City, Okla., Ronnie Shaw, Kerry Coleman, Carl Coleman and Reginald Coleman of Pine Bluff, Ark., Malcolm Coleman and Brian Coleman both of Little Rock, Ark.; and two daughters, Rhonda Schenck of Centerton, Ark. and Sherita Peterson of Clarksville, Ind.; thirty-three grandchildren and forty-three greatgrandchildren; one son-in-law – Roscoe Johnson, Jr, of Detroit, Mich., a special friend – Renies Hackworth of Detroit, Mich., and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church- Sherrill, Ark. by Reverend Robert L. Watson. Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.

Mrs. Pearlie Mae Tripp, age 88, died peacefully at her home on November 3, 2017 in Pine Bluff, Ark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jordan Tripp. She was born in Pine Bluff, Ark. to the late James Bradley and Ophelia Harris.

She is survived by her children Willie Tripp, Evelyn Thomas, Chinetta Davis, Linda Walters, Rickey Tripp, Lorraine Tripp and Michael Tripp; Sisters Jeanette Myrick and Jane Ella Duke; brothers Kenneth and Terry Hill.

She had 26 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grands; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017 and visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m., Friday, November, 10, 2017 at Highland Missionary Baptist Church located at 1320 S. Peach Street in Pine Bluff.

Mrs. Martha Jean Demery, 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 3, 2017. She was born in Sheridan, Ark. to the late David and Bernice Simmons.

She leaves to cherish her memories with three loving children that will always love her--Derrick (Andritha) Butler of Pine Bluff, Ark., Teresa (Anthony) Davis of Mansfield, Texas, and Robert (Amber) Demery of Atlanta, Ga.

She is survived by seven grand children — Jaylyne, Katlyne, Derrick Jr. (DJ), Nariyah, Jayda, Elijah, and Leah; two brothers—David (Roma) Simmons of Pine Bluff, Ark. and Lynn Howard (Patricia) Simmons of Little Rock, Ark.; three sisters—Lee Esther McLemore of Flint, Mich., Ethel (Ledell) McFadden of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Gloria Simmons of Flint, Mich.; special friends—Marilyn Reynolds and Margaret Reese; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Alton Spurlock

HOT SPRINGS - Alton “Snuffy” Spurlock, age 73, of Hot Springs, formerly of Pine Bluff,

passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2017. He was born January 17, 1944 in Dermott, to the late Arthur Spurlock, who was killed during World War II and Opal Boyd Roberson. He was reared by his mother and step-father, Caney Roberson. Alton was a 1963 graduate of Glendale High School.

A United States Navy Veteran, Snuffy worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad for over 20 years. He was also a Deputy for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department for more than 20 years, including civil and patrol divisions.

He and his wife later moved to Hot Springs, and he worked for the Hot Springs Village Police Department for 10 years.

Alton was a Baptist, a Master Mason, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of the York Rite. He had also been a DeMolay advisor and a member of the Sahara Shrine. Snuffy never met a stranger, and always had a joke to tell people who crossed his path. He also never missed an opportunity to embarrass his children or grandchildren with a police siren.

In addition to his parents, Alton was also predeceased his sister, Virginia Herring; and a son-in-law, Randy King. Survivors include his wife and the love of his life, Frances Bird Spurlock, whom he married on March 22, 1982; children, Jeff Spurlock, Sara Spurlock Vanderhorst, Laura King (Paul), and Pam Kolb (Paul); grandchildren, Vicki Cruz (Adrian), Jenny Rodriquez (Danny), David Spurlock (Bethany), Keegan Fowler, Jacob King (Lacy), Rachel King, Paul Louis Kolb, and Autumn Kolb; and ten great-grandchildren.

There will be a Memorial Gathering Sunday, November 12, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel, with visitation following. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Gideon’s International.
