A man who was being sought in connection with a September murder in Pine Bluff was arrested without incident Wednesday afternoon. Pine Bluff Police Officer Richard Wegner said in a press release that Kevin Rauls, 27, who had addresses in both White Hall and Conway, was arrested without incident and was taken to the adult detention center, where he is being held pending a court appearance.
Rauls was identified as the shooter in the death of Roderick Burnette, 29, who was shot on the parking lot of the car wash at 2401 S. Olive St. and ran to the Sonic Drive-In, where police were called. Burnette was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor in the emergency room. The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the upper body.
A second victim, who has not been identified, was with Burnette and was also shot; he was taken to the hospital after the incident, which reportedly followed some type of altercation. No further information was immediately available on where Rauls was arrested, or the motive for the slaying, which at the time was the 20th homicide of the year in Pine Bluff.
