Anniversaries


Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 1307 W. 16th Ave., will celebrate the 21st appreciation of its pastor, the Rev. David Maxwell Smith, and family at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The guest speaker will be the Rev. James Russell, pastor of Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church at Hobbs, New Mexico.


Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church at Jefferson will celebrate its 129th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Renice Davis, pastor of Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 12th Avenue and Poplar Street, will commemorate its 139th anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The preacher will be the Rev. James Johnson of Amos Chapel.


New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will celebrate its 114th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Glenn Barnes Sr., pastor of Pine Hill Baptist Church.


Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Star City will celebrate its 160th anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Cleon Morgan of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.


Kingdom Builders Outreach Church of God in Christ, 3105 S. Apple St., will celebrate the 12th pastoral anniversary of David O. Jones and Wanda Jones, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The guest speaker will be Leato Walker Jr., pastor of New Mt. Zion Rehoboth Church of God in Christ.


St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., will host its 128th anniversary and celebrate friends and family at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Walter C. May, pastor of Kings Highway Baptist Church.


Concerts


The Great I Am Temple at Monticello will host a choir clinic Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The session includes rehearsal and a lecture concerning ministry, vocal exercise and training. The concert begins at 6 p.m. The guest speaker and director will be Pine Bluff resident Kourtney Smith, a music director with the Dollarway School District and a minister of music. New Hope CME Church, 901 E. 21st Ave., will celebrate women’s day starting with a prayer at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. On Sunday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. the guest speaker will be Annette Dove of Unity Temple Church of God in Christ. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Cassandra Shaw of New Faith Missionary Baptist Church.


St. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 4508 S. Main St., will observe women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The guest speaker will be Hilda May of Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church.


Destiny Worship Center, 4700 W. 28th Ave., will present its women’s day Sunday, Nov. 19. At 11 a.m., the speaker will be the Rev. April Hearns. At 3 p.m., the speaker will be the Rev. Sheree Evans.


Motley Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 794 St. Raphael Road, will host its annual men’s and women’s day Sunday, Nov. 19. At 10:30 a.m., the speaker will be Angenette Shelton of Motley Chapel. The Family Community Development Corp., 1006 N. Palm St., will be the site for the mothers and daughters’ luncheon sponsored by Pleasant View Ministry Church Women’s Ministry. The event will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 18.

Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will present its annual Thanksgiving program at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The speaker will be Audrea Johnson, a minister at Travelers Rest. Refreshments will be served.


Victory Faith Church, 1517 S. Poplar St., will host its annual Thanksgiving service at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The pastor, K.D. Mixon Sr., will be the speaker.


New Morning Star Baptist Church at Altheimer will honor its associate minster, the Rev. Thelmon Williams Sr., at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Carl Gardner, associate minister at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Altheimer.


St. Paul AME Church, 4143 Highway 190 East, will celebrate its family and friends fellowship day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Daryell Howell, pastor of Moody Chapel AME Church at Little Rock.


Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate its annual harvest drive program at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Alfred Thomas Jr., associate minister of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock. Dinner will be served.


Greater Deliverance Global Ministry, 2215 E. Harding Ave., will host a financial wellness seminar about credit card debt and low credit scores, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. Victor Warren, regional vice president of Primerica at Little Rock, will be the facilitator. The seminar is free and open to the public.


Eudora Missionary Baptist Church, 9405 Middle Warren Road, will host guest speaker, Ronald Young, a minister at Mulberry Grove Baptist Church at Pine Bluff, at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19.

Pine Bluff Country Club, 1100 W. 46th Ave., will be the location for the Pine Bluff District #1 annual fellowship banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. The guest speaker will be Bishop Jewel R. Withers, prelate of the Arkansas First Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. The event will be dedicated to district Superintendent Joe L. Stocker. Damascus Missionary Baptist Church, 224 N. Cypress St., will host the citywide mission at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20. Everyone is asked to bring non-perishable food for the food basket.


Auburn Missionary Baptist Church at Gould will host its family and friends service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Archie Dolls of Westside Missionary Baptist Church at Star City.


Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in the Faith community will present its harvest drive program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. The guest speaker will be Nadine Young of New Life Church at Rison.
