The Ivy Center for Education will host ACT Prep and College Readiness Workshops for area high school seniors featuring facilitators from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville Office of Diversity Affairs Outreach.

Sessions will be held at the Donald Reynolds Service Center, 211 W. Third Ave. on the following dates:

Wednesday, Nov. 29 — High school seniors will receive an overview of the test, learning strategies and tips for success. Students must commit to the entire session from 5:15-6:15 p.m. Snacks will be provided from 4:45-5:15 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 30 — Seniors will receive an ACT booklet and will work independently or in groups on the practice test. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions and review answers to problems.

“Due to our high school seniors applying for scholarships and only having a few more times to take the ACT, we feel by practicing a week ahead of the Dec 9th test, they will be able to identify areas that need improvement and seek help from teachers or from online resources,” a spokesman said in a news release. “This will also allow them enough time to review and study key concepts necessary for success on the ACT exam.”

Interested seniors who are preparing for college should sign up with career coaches or guidance counselors at their schools by Monday, Nov. 27. They should bring pencil and paper.

Students may also sign up by emailing Mattie Collins at or Patricia Berry at .
