STOCKTON, CALIF. – Four Canisius players scored in double-figures, led by sophomore Isaiah Reese and freshman Takal Molson, who each had 19 points, and the Golden Griffins shot 55.8 percent from the field and 52.2 percent from 3-point land, as the Blue and Gold cruised to an 81-58 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Saturday night in the Men Against Breast Cancer Showcase in Stockton, Calif.
The win, Canisius’ second straight, moves the team to 3-3 this season, while Arkansas-Pine Bluff fell to 0-8 with the loss. Canisius never trailed in the contest, and led by as many as 21 in the first half, en route to a 42-23 lead at the intermission. In the second half, Canisius’ lead ballooned to as much as 33 points at 78-45 after Foley knocked down a triple from the near corner off an assist by freshman D.J. Heath.
The Golden Lions were led by junior guard Martaveous McKnight, who scored a game-high 20 points in the loss. Forward Trent Steen was good for 15 points and four rebounds for UAPB, which led the team. Canisius closed out the game with a 42-18 advantage on the glass, and the Griffs held a 13-6 margin in second-chance points.
