WHITE HALL - Benjamin Ray “Bennie” Parker, 77, of White Hall, died Sunday, December 3, 2017.
He was born October 25, 1940 in Fornfelt (now part of Scott City), Mo., son of Verlon and Alberta Wright Parker.
Bennie was reared and received his early education in Scott City, Mo., graduating from Scott City High School. He attended Southeast Missouri State Teacher’s College (now Southeast Missouri State University) in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He joined the Cotton Belt Railroad as a fireman in the early 1960s and moved to Pine Bluff, Ark. in 1964. He was very active in the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, serving as their General Chairman in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Bennie retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 2010 as a locomotive engineer.
Bennie was a member of Family Church.
He loved cars, even owning and operating his own used car lot for a short time in the early 1980s and early 90s.
Bennie was preceded in death by his son, Victor Parker; his parents; and two sisters, Sandra Little and Verla Jean Bertrand.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Margaret Wright Parker, whom he married May 25, 1963 in Cape Girardeau, Mo.; son, Brian Parker of White Hall; two brothers, Ronald E. Parker (Norma) and Verlon E. “Butch” Parker, Jr., both of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and two grandsons, Victor Payton Parker and Houston Ray Parker, both of White Hall.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors with Tony Lawhon officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 - 7 p.m. at Robinson’s.

WHITE HALL - Darrell Wayne Abshere, 79 of White Hall,passed away, Saturday, December 2, 2017.
Born September 21, 1938 at Van Buren, he was a son of the late Earnest Edward Abshere and Lena Grace Swearinton Abshere.
A man of many hats, Mr. Abshere was a United States Navy veteran, a great husband, father and provider.
He retired from the Cotton Belt Railroad as an electrician in 1993 after several years of service.
He enjoyed playing his guitar and bass fishing whenever the opportunity arose.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Wayne Abshere, Jr.; and siblings, Gordon Dunlap, Freddie Abshere, and Barbara Holland.
Mr. Abshere is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Margie Tanner Abshere, to whom he married October, 30, 1959; children, George Abshere (Charlotte), and Mona Prather (Robbie); sister-in-law, Pauline Abshere; grandchildren, Darrell Wayne “Trey” Abshere III, Morgan Prather; and many other loving family and friends.
Graveside Services will be Wednesday, December 6, 11 a.m. at Woolverton Mountain Cemetery, Conway County.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Cranford Funeral Home.

MERCED, CALIF. - Mr. Roosevelt “Bud or Buddy” Edwards, Sr., 88, of Merced, Calif. passed November 26, 2017.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Barraque Street Baptist Church. Interment will be in Cline Cemetery in Humphrey, Ark. by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
His body will lie in-state Wednesday, 10:15 a.m., until service.
